Hello everyone. Nice to see so many other lovely cat lovers out there.
I don't have the technology to post pictures, but I can tell you a little bit about my kitty furbabies. I currently have 7 cats, and 5 other cats staying with me temporarily (though 1 of those may stay for good). They are:
~ Lily, 6 years old. Black & white DSH. She was a stray tame kitten who just showed up in my back yard one night, filthy, starving and screaming her head off. She is very sweet and neurotic. I am her favorite and she is my favorite. She barely survived a nasty case of fatty liver disease in the summer of 2004, but has made a full recovery. Her Indian name is Knocks Things Off Tables.
~Tristan, 3 years old. Brown longhair, I think he is part Maine Coon. He is my only non-stray kitty; I got him from a shelter. Also extremely sweet, with a tendency to get a bit jealous if I don't pay him enough attention. His Indian name is Screams For Food.
~Max, 1 year old. Orange DSH. Stray tame kitten who just showed up in my front yard one day, filthy, starving and screaming his head off. He is EXTREMELY affectionate, and also fearless (I think he is the Alpha kitty of the house). His Indian name is Begs To Be Held.
~Natasha, we think she's about 4 years old. DSH, jet black from head to toe. We think she is a Black Oriental or Siamese. She showed up in my yard 3 years ago with a litter of 3 feral kittens, all boys, about 8-10 weeks old. I trapped the whole family, planning to socialize and adopt out the kittens, but it didn't really work out that way. The kittens were TOTALLY feral and I didn't know what I was doing, so by the time they started to tame up almost a year had gone by and I was so attached to the kittens that I just kept everybody. All of her 3 boys look like they are half-Siamese, with blue eyes. Natasha and her boys are all VERY talkative. Her Indian name is Rubbing Shadow.
-Misha, 3 years old. Natasha's boy. Looks like a snowshoe Siamese. Major big-time Mama's boy. He is a BIG boy, the biggest cat in my house, but still rather wussy and skittish. His Indian name is Loves His Mommy (Natasha, not me).
~Nicky, 3 years old. Natasha's boy. Looks half striped tabby, half Siamese. A sweet but very wussy boy, I think he is the Omega kitty of the house. Adores tummy rubs. His Indian name is Hands On His Tummy.
~Pavel, 3 years old. Natasha's boy. Looks just like Nicky, only smaller and thinner, with crossed eyes. The runt of the litter, he took the longest to tame, but now he is constantly begging to be petted. For some reason I have never been able to figure, Lily hates him. They generally just avoid each other. His Indian name is Cries For Attention.
And my 5 guests:
Nadia - I'm guessing she's very young. White and grey longhair. She was a stray kitty who had a litter of 4 kittens on my back doorstep. As with Natasha, I decieded to take the family in and socialize the kittens to be adopted out. Unlike Natasha, I knew what I'm doing this time, plus I got the kittens when they were only a few hours old so they are already socialized. The mother is still semi-feral, and I think I'm probably going to keep her.
Nadia's babies - 4 kittens, all boys, currently 7 weeks old. Right now I'm calling them Alvin, Simon, Theodore, and Oscar. They are scehuled to go to a no-kill shelter once they reach 8 weeks.
So there they are. Nice to meet everybody. This looks like a really great site.
