Max was a black and white tuxedo cat. He never knew he was a cat. He was the smartest cat I ever saw. Max was twelve and a half years old. He lived outside, confined in our back yard with his brothers, Speedboat and Muffin. On the 8th of July he got sick. I took him to the vet the next day. His bloodwork showed kidney failure. By Monday, his bloodwork was worse and the prognosis was not good. We had him put to sleep because the vet said he had first thought it was a chronic condition, but changed his mind and decided Max had acute kidney failure. I miss him so much. I think of him everyday and I wonder will I ever feel better. I have no idea what happened to him. If I did, maybe that would help. Apparently he had some kind of a shock to his system which damaged his kidneys, or he was exposed to something toxic. How long does it take to feel better? I love my other two cats, but they don't fill this hole in my heart.

Awwww sweetie!
I'm so sorry for your loss. Max sounds like he was a wonderful boy.

Rest assured Max is now well over Rainbow Bridge where he's suffering no more, and running around catching butterflies, and playing with all the other kitties thats there as well.

The best way to cope is what i said to another member, which is to take it one day at a time, and cry when you want to, because you've lost a little boy who played a big part in your life, and no one can take that away from you

But don't you worry he'll be waiting for you

Rosie, thanks for the kind words. I wrote a story about Max, thinking that would help. The folks who read it said I should get it published somewhere.
But I did it because as time goes by, one forgets things. I didn't ever want to forget anything about Max. Thanks again.

Condolences on the loss of Max. I love tuxedo kitties, they are so beautiful. I don't know why Max got sick. Maybe your vet can give you some ideas, or you can use a search engine like google or dogpile

http://www.dogpile.com/

to look up cat kidney failure for more info.

Check out some of the other CatSite boards. It does help to be among friends who understand!

I am so sorry for your loss.
You will always have a place in your heart for him but eventually the pain of it will fade. It just takes a long time.

I am so sorry about your loss. I lost my beloved Vinnie in june and it still hurts. As days go by it will be easier to remember the good times and smile at the memories, versus cry. Give yourself time and just remember Max is to the bridge waiting for you.

Awww. This is so sad. Unfortunately our pets are like children and the pain may never feel better, but fortunately we have places like this where we can celebrate his life and carry on his spirit. I'm sorry for your loss of Max. He was such a handsome boy...

I just noticed this post is ten years old, but that is an important anniversary that will definitely bring thoughts of Max back to blueyedgirl's mind and heart. These anniversaries are always bittersweet, and for sure are never, ever forgotten.I pray that handsome Max is at peace and enjoying his time at the Rainbow Bridge. he will always be remembered and loved for as long as blueyedgirl lives. RIP sweet Max!

S smcgrade1 for the sweet words. It was so special to come back to this thread and see there are two posts I had not read. di and bob di and bob Thank you too for your sweet words about Max.

I came back to this thread because of something that happened to me yesterday. My husband and I were shopping in a local department store. I saw a woman who was very attractive and decided to speak to her. As soon, as I told her how nice she looked, I realized I knew her. It was the woman who gave us Max twenty two years ago. I thought she had moved away. As soon as she recognized me, she grabbed me and hugged me. What a special Christmas present that was. .

It was just so sweet, both of us with tears in our eyes remembering a cat who owned our hearts.
