We are new to this forum. Our "Mom" found it earlier this week and signed us up.
To introduce ourselves....It`s ME first, since I am the alpha male....I`m Toby, a dark gray TIGER with swirley stripes. I`m not really a lap cat...except for when I`M IN THE MOOD....but I`m very playful and energetic. I`ll be a year old the 22nd of this month (Sept 2005)
I`m really a very smart cat. I understand a lot of my humans language, although I often pretend not to hear...unless what`s being said is to my liking. (Darn my ears anyhow....they always give me away to "Mom" and she`s onto my selective deafness!)
My favorite game is Hide & Seek ....with "Mom" . We have been playing it since I first moved in and took over the house when I was 8 weeks old, (after being dumped off by my bio-mom!) I start the game by running and hiding then peeking out at "Mom"......then she hides and calls to me ..."Toby, where are you?"......Then I go looking for her, but if I don`t already KNOW where she is, I`ll stand in the hallway and "holler" back to her...so she will call to me again so I can locate her before she jumps out and "BOO`s!" me. THEN it`s my turn to hide again. She is always ready to quit this game before me, even though I try my best to keep it going, on and on and on.
Now to introduce you to my BEST BUD ,and adoped "brother" cat. His name is Tedy, and his birthday is only 6 days after mine. He`ll be a year old on Sept 28th. He`s a yellow tiger and did`nt come to live with us till this last spring....so I`d been here a few months before him...and I was`nt sure that I really liked him for the first 3 days. (Basically I just needed for him to KNOW who was the BIG BOSS though...and now that he has it straight we are best of friends)
He is not as smart as I am...but what he lacks in that area he makes up for in sweetnes. He`s more of a lap-cat-type which makes our "Dad" happy, as he has a recliner that he spends evenings in and enjoys Tedy`s company.
Tedy is also quite the "singer". He can purr so loud that he can be heard clear across the room! (Although I did have to teach him how to talk. He did`nt utter a word when he first came here...not a single "meow"... for weeks...and I`ve been a "talker" ever since I was a baby! Now from time to time we even confuse Mom as to who has said something. Not only have I taught him to talk...but he does a pretty good imitation of my voice.)
Tedy "poops out" quicker than I do...but until then we have a riotous time playing together and tearing up the house . (Gives Mom something to do when we are napping!).
Tedy had been an outdoor cat until he came to live with us and he was NOT clean enough for me when he first moved in! I used to follow him to the littler box and get in to check it out when he was finished....I usually had to cover over his Do Do because he did`nt do it to suit me. I also had to take him down by the nap of his neck and bathe him from one end to the other... as keeping himself clean was not one of his virtues. (I will report though, that after ample instruction by ME, he is doing much better in the cleanliness department, even going so far as to aid me with my own bath occassionally!)
We have pretty much taken over the bathroom in the house, with our litter box being in a closet that Dad cut a hole in to create an entrance for us, our water and food is on the other side of the bathroom....and Dad actually made us bunkbeds that Mom painted and made blankets and pillows to match her bathroom decor. We sleep in them every night, despite the fact that there are RUFFLES on them....(With ME on the TOP bunk, of course!)
In the livingroom window we have a 2 shelved kitty post that we love to sit on and watch the "outside world" from. (Although Dad may as well have just made one BIG shelf...since we both want to be on the top one. As we are getting BIGGER it seems to be getting smaller. Dad may have to rebuild soon!)
Tedy loves to sharpen his nails on the rope on the post that Dad put there for that purpose.....but I`m just not into that myeslf. I prefer to lay on my back and slide myself under the bottom bunk to sharpen mine on the underside of Tedy`s bed . (Beside, when I do that, Mom always sees my tail sticking out and "gets" me...and I do so love that!)
Well...like I said, I am a "talker"....but it`s just about time for me and Tedy to get our afternoon naps in the sun, on the love seat...and Mom needs to get busy and pick up our toys and straighten the toss pillows, etc. (We`ve just about got her trained now!)....LATER! Toby & Tedy
