Certain smells always remind me of certain places or times in my life. The smell of fresh baked cakes takes me back to my Nans kitchen, and the smell of freshly mown grass takes me back to childhood summer days making daisy chains on the school field that seemed to last forever (the days not the chains!).

Also love the smell of fresh bread, clean laundry, fresh brewed coffee and petrol

I like the smell of bacon, but I always remember that it smelled better than it tasted!

I'm with you on all of those except for the petrol, although my husband likes that smell!

I love the smell of vanilla, carrot cake baking, roses in the garden. My strange smell I like is the smell of rain of pavement on a hot summer day!

Christmas!! When it starts getting dark in the evenings with a slight bite of frost, the air seems to have a subtle smell/hint to it, and it makes me think of warm nights cuddled up in front of the fire!

OK this may sound gross....but when I was a kid we would visit relatives in Canada, who owned a farm, so now, the smell of manure brings a smile to my face. But nothing, and I mean NOTHING can beat the smell of fresh coffee in the morning!

Instant Childhood Reminders:

sniff some Play-Doh

sniff some peanut butter

Other wonderful smells:
a fire burning ( a REAL, wood fire, not a freaking gas fireplace!!!)

vanilla

coffee brewing or just sniff the beans... mmm

Cranberries... anything cranberryish cuz it's a Christmas thing!

pine trees... grass smells... field-smells (not cow patties just the field itself)

Cedar boards in someone's house

the scent in the air just before a big ol thunderstorm rolls through!

and... my own weird preference... a man's natural scent ... his "pheramones" I think they're called. If a guy is doused in cologne I instantly get turned off. I like guy smells.

There are too many to list! I have always associated scents with times and places in my life. I'm also very sensitive to smells, and partial to headaches if one doesn't agree with me.

Some favorites:
Baking banana bread
Piles of fall leaves
Rain
Puppies
Freesia

Not so favorite:
Cigarette smoke, although I do like the smell of tobacco
Most men's colognes
Fireflies (ever catch them and smell your hands?)
Wet dogs

My favorite smell of all time is Cupid! I don't know if it's because he doesn't have fur or what, but he has this glorious, musky scent that must be his pheremones because I'm absolutely in love with it! He smells good (like a baby) after I give him a bath, but I much prefer HIS scent he has a couple days afterwards. I'm addicted to it, whenever I hold him I just sniff him over and over! It's intoxicating, really.

The scent that reminds me of childhood is the scent of watermelons in the BREEZE (not watermelon-scented stuff or watermelons). I remember being on the school bus on the way home and thinking about getting home and playing outside and just being so happy!

Honeysuckle reminds me of my mom because she always loved it.

Fresh-cut grass and after-rain-air are great scents in general. Sometimes when I'm outside at night, I smell a flowery scent that comes from somewhere unknown. It could be neighbors flowers or something, but I don't know.

I also love fresh laundry smell (especially towels), new clothes smell (which is probably dyes, but you can smell it when you walk into some stores too. Instant pick-me-up!), money (even though the thought of all the germs on it gross me out, it still smells good), and lemonaide.

A strange taste that I think would make a beautiful scent is green gobstoppers candy. They taste good but they also taste like a perfect perfume would smell. When I was in HS, my friend & I said we were going to bottle it and sell it (she was going to design the bottle) and we'd call it "Spring" so that's an idea what it smells like. They're watermelon-flavored, I think, but they taste different.

One smell that reminds me of being in love with my ex is the scent those car air-fresheners have--the ones shaped like a plastic foot. We went on a trip in his car once and we smelled that the whole way, and had a blast, so that's what it reminds me of. And trust me, nothing else would ever remind me of being in love with him!

There's this one scent that reminds me of my neighbor's house when I lived at home. It had a distinct scent. It wasn't perfumey or floral, but it didn't stink or necessarily smell 'good' either, but I smell it every once in a while and it reminds me of his house. I have no idea what it is. It reminds me of summer, growing up, and playing outside because my friends and I were always at his house because he had a huge pool.
