Somehow I don't think it would make it through customs!!! I would have them showing up at my door to arrest me for trying to get some rare insect into Mexico or somthing like that!

Hm.. well my mom's boyfriend's parents have their own garden too.. and amongst other things they have tomatoes also. Woo tomato plants can be evil I know. You can get like 50 tomatoes off of one plant.. and they have about 20 plants or more!

HM.. well... what she did was stew some of them with peppers and onions and stuff and canned them. THey have like.. 50 jars of tomatoes! She sent home a five gallon bucket full for my mom and I... and we made about a gallon or two of salsa. She uses the canned tomatoes for spaghetti sauce and for Chili. My advice is to just keep canning! Its a long, tiring process but you'll be glad for it in the end. Heck. You can always tie bows around it and give one jar out to each of your family and friends and be like "ok thats your christmas present, now go away!"

This is a wonderful idea! You could make fresh salsa! I adore homemade fresh salsa! All you'd need is a good recipe, your tomatoes and juice, fresh onion and fresh garlic, sweet peppers, hot peppers, jalopenos to taste, and what really makes a salsa perfect is cilantro! Lots of cilantro.!

I agree that you can never have enough cilantro! I have some of that in the garden too! I do have about 5 batches of salsa in the freezer.

Bleah
!!!
We think cilantro tastes like soapy dishwater. The thing is, up until about 6-10 years ago, nothing had cilantro in it! Now you can't hardly find salsa that doesn't have it!

I use parsley instead. Its not so much the taste of cilantro I don't like. Its the smell. Here's the salsa recipe I use.

2 cloves garlic
1 small onion
1 large tomato
2 jalapenos
juice from 1/2 lime
large handful parsley (or cilantro)
pinch salt

Coarsley chop garlic and onion. Chop on low in food processor. Microwave for 1 minute. Cut tomatoes. jalapenos into small chunks. Discard jalapeno seeds if you don't want the salsa to be hot. Add jalapeno, tomato, and parsley cilantro to food processor. Chop on low. Combine with garlic and onion. Add salt and lime juice. Chill for 1 hour.
