HELP! Our garden has provided us with an abundance of tomatoes this year.

I have many containers of spaghetti sauce and salsa frozen. I know when I go out into the garden alter I will have bucketfuls of them again.

Any other ideas on how to use them?

Let a few of them rot and throw them at people who don't like cats

(I know that didn't help, but I couldn't resist!)

HA! My neighbors hide when they see me coming- except our tomatoes are so sweet and good- but they have just flourished this year! I've even resorted to making my homemade catsup this year! You can pm me for the recipe if you like?

Did I mention that I don't like raw tomatoes? Yes, I am nuts for planting so many tomatoes, but my husband LOVES them!

My backyard borders a golf course, so I could let them rot and have target practice
Just kidding!

It is OK if ketchup takes TONS of tomatoes, thats how many I have. I planted 4 varieties - plum, beefsteak, cherry and the last was supposed to be grape, but must have been labeled wrong, they are large orange tomatoes.

The shelters in the area are getting them from local farmers, so they are all set....

If I didn't think they woudl start to rot in the package, I would ship some off to all of you!

We haven't lived here long, so haven't spoken to most of the neighbors, if I could catch some outside, I would approach them and ask, but I don't feel comfortable knocking on doors.

This is our first summer in this house and our first vegetable garden here. We bought the house from 2 retiring botany professors that moved to New Hampshire. When we were up there last week, we had lunch with them, we brought some tomatoes ( have to give them to anyone we can
) and told them about the success we have had. They lived here for 30 years and spent the first 20 years babying the soil. I have never seen anything like it. I am a shrimp at 5'3", but the cherry tomato plants are way taller than me!

Well, bear in mind that its an English thing, but fry them up with a good Sunday breakfast or dinner.

A friend cans green tomatoes (they are surprisingly good).

Other than that, I'm just plain jealous like the others.

I'm like you, I don't like raw tomatoes but love them any other way.

How about making a chilli with big chunks of tomatoes in it?

Ooooh, even better......LASAGNA!!!!!! You can make the sauce and freeze it then take it out when you want it and just add your noodles and cheese!

I made a batch of BBQ sauce this past weekend, and a batch of ketchup the weekend before. I don't need any taco sauce but I've got a good recipe (or a link?) Or make tomato paste, tomato chunks (you can just chop and freeze too).
PM me as I know lots and lots about tomatoes!!
But you can start a fall tradition. My SIL lets her "boys" (now 17, 22 and 28) have a rotten tomato fight in the fall-they wear icky clothes that she doesn't mind getting stained up plus they farm so they have lots of icky clothes!!

I haven't had a good crop this year, but last year it was crazy. That prompted me to learn to can tomato juice. It's great, and I still have some left. I use it in chili, spaghetti sauce, etc.

Salsa!!! Mmmmmmmmmmm.

I saw a recipe I've wanted to try for Tomatoes Provincal.
something like this -
Cut tops off tomatoes, hollow out (saving insides for another use), stuff with breadcrumbs and herbs, top with cheese and bake.
