Keeping in mind that I am actively becoming more and more of an animal activist, which of these types of vegetarians would I want to more consider? I am NOT extreme by any stretch of the imagination but I also care about animals and want to do what I can.

Thanks!
As a vegetarian for 20+ years, I thank-you for wanting to do what you can for our animal friends; those without voices.

Without going into a whole tirade about meat eating vs. vegetarian lifestyle, if you have a few moments, check out the following sites:

woohoo! I thought I was the only crazy one here!

I've been vegetarian since I was 14 or so, vegan for about a year.

I have been iron-deficient since I was a young child...but that is something that I had to bring up with my dr. before going vegan. It's totally manageable and safe if you take the time and have the committment to seek out alternatives, because, contrary to popular belief, you can get it from a variety of places that exclude red meat

Anyway, if you have the time, heart and motivation to do it, veganism is great! It's a holistic apporach that includes more than just your eating habits. Veganism has helped me relate to nature and the world in a more broad way and has encouraged very healthy spirituality.

And remember, they just changed the Oreo recipe fairly recently I believe to make it vegan...so there's my personal favorite indulgence! It's just an example that there are mainstream foods and treats that you certainly don't have to say goodbye to. Plenty of bread and pasta is vegan as well, so you can easily go out for a spaghetti dinner, for example.

I have been vegetarian for 8 years, completely vegan for three
, so is my husband. I don't miss meat at all, discustig stuff, but I've had to get used to cuttin hearts, poor chicken's legs etc. for the kitties. What wouldn't a mum do for her kids?

Good luck with being a vegetarian!

I could never be one.

I love bacon and Hamburgers and grilled things too much xD

But to each their own eh?

O_O

I dont eat veal or lamb though.

Just something about eating poor little babies that is a bit gross.
