I'm wondering what movies people here have seen or been dragged into, thinking they wouldn't like the movie, but were surprised to feel otherwise. What movies have you been conned into seeing that you liked far more than you thought you would?

The power of one - i was dragged into seeing it - I think it came out at the same time as Last of the Mohicans and I really wanted to see that - I loved the Power of One, the person I was with hated it, I hated last of the Mohicans but that same person loved it. Weird. And just before I left for NZ, I walked along the path of that scene where the girl jumped after the native american she loved so much.
(Chimney Rock)

The Power of One remains one of my favourite films of all time.

My friend's gushed over it, they pratically had to drag me kicking and screaming to see it. I thought why bother seeing it!!, I already know the ending!, but now it's one of my fav movies of all time

Master and Commander. I don't particularly like Russell Crowe, and naval movies aren't really that interesting to me. But I had heard lots of good things about it, and when my Dad (who is into all that military stuff) visited over Thanksgiving I suggested we see it. Let's just say I got the super-deluxe DVD version the first day it was for sale
and I still watch it from time to time.

There are quite a few of them, but the only one that comes to mind right now is Super Troopers. That movie cracked me up!
I thought it was going to be really horrible.

Wedding Crashers... I thought it was going to be really stupid but it was hilarious. I hadn't laughed that much at a movie in a long time.

-some interesting answers.
I can't really think of any right now, but I know I've been dragged into movies I didn't think I would like. The best I can think of right now is Tron. I was quite young when I saw it and I think it was rented for my cousin who was visiting. It was way better than I thought. I love Tron!

Wedding Crashers sounds like a movie I wouldn't like . That and MR. & Mrs. Smith. Someone will have to force me to watch before I ever see a frame of either movie.

At first I thought 'not another prison movie' - but this film has turned into one of my all time favourites. Absolutely brilliant, and thought provoking!

October Sky. Totally didn't look like my kind of movie, but my best friend swore I'd love it and she was right

Spaceballs, lol. I saw it when I was little, my brother wanted to see it so my mom dragged me to go see it too. I was the only one who wound up liking it is the funny part. I watched it a few weeks ago and happy to report it's still funny!

Ha ha... I thought I would love Fight Club too, but hated it the first time I finally saw it. It grew on me a little after that though.

For me, it was "Pirates of the Caribean" with Johnny Depp. I really have never cared for any movies with him in it, nor is a pirate movie my normal idea of a good movie. My hubby was watching it on TV...I sat down, asked what he was watching....thought "YUCK!!".....10 minutes later, I found I was actually enjoying the movie!
(And actually found Johnny Depp kinda sexy)

40 year old virgin was the last movie I thought I wouldn't like but did. Look at the title! I can't think of the absolute best one I've seen that I originally thought would suck so that will have to do for now.
