Hello all, This is the story, I came out of the shower this morning and walked into my room and I see this....

Miss Cleo moved her kittens last week, first out of the box to under my bed, and then from under my bed to one of my children's room under his bed. She picked the worst spot ever ( think and 11 year old boys room) LOL..She underestimated my drive to keep an eye on them though, I went so far as to clean underneath said boys bed

Anyway, this morning, when I came out there she was with the baby, she left him right there while she ate ( food in a different room) and we got ready to go, everyone petted him and loved on him and her when she was with him. I noticed that she was very rough with him, looked almost like she was teaching him to grab something by the throat! As we were all leaving she grabs her boy up and takes him back to their spot.

When I came home, she had three of them with her feeding them, but this one was off by himself sleeping.
Now is she teaching him something? Or might their be another problem? Is it time for them to come out and start exploring?

I will add that he was the first to open his eyes. I should also say he is my favorite, so I thought it was cool that she chose him to show me this morning
oh, and today they are 14 days old.

I'm a sucker for these cats and think I worry more over them then I do the kids!!

I'd think that mom lost track of where the baby went. She's not feeling safe at all if she's moving them around like that. I would give her an area she can have with her babies where no one will bother them, period, and hopefully the problem will stop.

You want to seclude her and the babies in a room and make it so the mom can't really get out. Let her out on her own a few times a day for about an hour so she can have breathing room

The only room in my house that is secluded and away from everyone is my room. Do you think I should move the kittens myself and bring them back in here? Would that upset her too much?

Also I don't think she lost track of this kitten, when I first came out she was here with him, and I petted her a good ten minutes while she rolled all around and got her love. After I was done with her she I petted the baby and she licked/played roughly and even gave him a hug (that was cute) and then got up and went to eat and use the box. At one point she even sat down in her favorite spot in the kitchen. When the kids started getting up she came back in here with the baby and sat down with him while the boys petted him and her. But she did leave once after the kids got up, that's where I got the picture.

this is the first time she has moved any of them in a well over a week, when she did move them from box to bed and then different room, it was all within the first five days.

I won't do anything until I hear from you again, I 'm glad you told me she might be freaking out, that never occurred to me. I was thinking everything from it's normal too she is rejecting him. But never that she didn't feel safe, I want her to know we wouldn't harm her babies.

I think it would be better for her and the kittens to be in a place where they can have some privacy. If that is your room..then I would move them all there.

Lock the mother and the kittens in one room until the babies are 5 or 6 weeks old. Sarah my blue point moved her kittens in the middle of the night to the top of my brothers bunk. Every chance she got for an open door she would immediately try to move her babies there. (This was when they were 1 to 2 weeks old). When the babies were six weeks old they started to jump on my bed in the middle of the night so we moved them to the guest bathroom. We put blankets in the tub for them. (Dont worry we never use that shower.) and they were content in the bathroom until they were 8 weeks old. Then they moved perminately to the playroom for sleep and free roam in the house during the day.
My advice: Lock the mother and the kittens up in a room until they are six weeks old.
