So I've had my foster girl for about 3.5 hours and I'm kinda concerned that she isn't drinking like she should - she actually seemed a little scared of the water dish when I showed it to her and I haven't seen her drink. She's peed once already and seems spunky as can be.

At the shelter she was fed KMR, soft food, and kibble and had a bowl of water available as well. Here I have just kibble and a water dish available, though I will prob pick up some canned food on my way back from a meeting tonight. I have a can of milk replacer as well, but since she is about 4.5 or 5 weeks old I didn't think that she would need it.

What do you all think I should do?

I'd let her have the KMR..can't hurt her. I'd also feed her some good quality kitten moist food.

a couple young kits ive adopted have seemed to feel the same about the water dish, they seemed kinda confused about it's purpose since it was so big n they were so small.... theyve always eventually figured it out...... but if you're concerned about the health then you should try and offer something it will accept

Well I gave her some milk replacer in a dish and she only lapped a bit, played for a while, and dutifully peed in the box.
I think I'll cut the milk with some water so I can gradually decrease how much formula I use and she gets used to water in a dish.
