Isn't it amazing in Wisconsin how many people have Packer rooms???
I have on order my Pink Packer hat-it should be shipped next week!!! Haven't bought any other new Packer stuff though I've eyed some clothing articles up in the catalog.
I think we might go to Curley's Pub next Wed for Dinner I guess I'll have to stop in the pro shop then. I'm going to suggest Packer cat collars!!! They have then for dogs why not cats???

Hi all,

Just popping in and wanted to make you aware, in case you weren't, of the boycott against Iams. I just learned about this - it's all over Peta's website and there's another website dedicated to the reasoning behind this boycott. Peta employees went there, undercover, and the conditions they witnessed are truly just downright disgusting and horrifying. The employee had a hidden camera and they show this on the site. I held out w/out crying until the end when they showed this poor little kittie sitting in the cage looking like it was afraid of its own shadow. Thought I'd make you aware, just in case you weren't. =)

The site is www.iamscruelty.com and you can read and see everything Peta discovered. It's truly disturbing but everyone deserves to know before they go and contribute to the company's success, and ultimately, the continuing of neglect and abuse. I've spread this story to many who bought Iams faithfully and they immediately stopped because they had no idea. Like I said, I didn't know about this until recently and figured I would pass it along to anyone I could.

Wow... I was going to ask for the coupon. I guess I need to look into this a little more before I buy another bag of cat food.

I just don't understand what the video was totally about. I get the gross neglect part. It needed captions for most of it. It was hard to understand what was being said. Has Iams responded to the video? Just curious....not that I ever belive their (companys) responses.

Hmmm.... guess I will look into it tomorrow.

It's honestly as new to me as it is to you. I only learned of this about 2 or 3 weeks ago, month tops. An article from Peta's page that says something about not just wanting cleaner cages directly links to the IamsCruelty site - so I'm assuming they did by saying they cleaned stuff up a little?

The video was hard to hear, I know - but being the employee was undercover and the mic hidden, I think we're lucky to hear anything at all. I'm sure if we dig deeper on that site, we'll find out any developing stories. I know the local Animal Rights League here in NH had a protest not too long ago.. I'm bummed I didn't know about it then! I've NEVER been in a protest and it's kind of weird to think of being part of one - but I totally would if it meant stopping cruelty like this!

Good luck !

If you want, you could put this IMO as fodder for debate.
However, this was simply a kind offer from Gail.
(thanks gail)...
The Iams thing has been discussed ad nauseum and there are actually new developments in this issue (with Iams making a full statement about it)..Just search on Iams and you will find much.

I could put it in the IMO- thanks. I figured this was a great place to make someone aware, when someone is talking about buying Iams.

Doesn't surprise me that they've come forward.. but the video doesn't lie.. it is what it is. Again, if I feel like having more of a debate, I'll post it in IMO. If it's already been beat to death (which I did not realize, I haven't seen any posts regarding it -although haven't searched either)- then I can just add my two cents to that thread.

Thanks!

For those who are thinking we're attacking the original poster- that's NOT it at all. I'm new to this board, did not realize the Iams stuff has already been mentioned many times elsewhere. When I see someone talk about Iams.. I want to make sure they know of the great controversy right now- I think it's only fair. My original post was nothing but kind, and wanting to lend a hand in offering this information, if she (or anyone else) was not aware. This was not about slamming ANYONE, especially when they're just trying to help others. I mean, I really don't think there's a need to post that she was trying to help- I think that was obvious?!? I think many will see I'm also trying to help. And as far as posting in another folder, well - when it comes to allegations of cats and kittens being killed, and video to back up many of the allegations, I will post where I need to, in order to make sure people are aware. Like I said in my other post- I had no idea about this until about a month ago. The local Animal Rights League made me aware of it and educated me a great deal, considering I had no clue whatsoever. These are people that are EXTREMELY active in animal rights. I didn't know the Cat Lounge was not allowed this type of discussion? Sure there's a better place (from the sounds of it) but this was a simple "did you know" comment when someone was advertising coupons for Iams. I would HOPE someone would do the same for me, if I posted something about a company I did not realize was being accused of such horrible things. If people want to comment further and debate, then yes- it doesn't belong on her original thread but what I posted to her was absolutely NOT wrong OR accusatory at all! So, if anyone who has posted saying, "she was simply helping.. " - your point is across- there's no need to go on anymore- I never disagreed in the first place! There does not need to be anymore discussion, unless others want to thank her or myself for the posts making them aware of the two issues at hand (which is ALL that was being done in the first place). This did not turn into a debate, "or opinion", until someone made it that.
