John Denver? Sorry about my question.

Bob Denver was in a popular American show called "Gilligan's Island" during the 1960s. He played the main character of Gilligan. Even after the show stopped in the mid 1960s, they showed reruns and still show them on American TV today. I am not certain if the show was ever shown in Germany or not http://www.nowchannel.com/tv/series/?45

Sure, I remember him and his music, he has been a part of my life. And I remember some situations, heard his music. Thank you, John Denver.

Every day after school, it was Gilligan's Island. Like someone said, part of my childhood. May he rest in peace.

Oh that is sad news Looks like I'll be watching some Gilligans Island tonight (I have two seasons on dvd, and I'm getting the third soon, it's one of my favourite shows!)

I know he will be best remembered as Gilligan, but I would rather remember him as Maynard G. Krebbs. Anyone remember that?

I don't know him, but I've heard about GI from time to time!

You are thinking of John Denver, the singer, not Bob Denver, the actor. John Denver died in 1997, when the plane he was flying malfunctioned and crashed.

You may not be aware of Bob Denver, he was an American television icon. I loved Gilligan!

I remember Maynard!

When I heard the news, it took me a moment to realize that , yes, he could be 70! Boy how time flies...

Did you catch him in the Roseanne episode featuring the remaining cast members of Gilligan's Island? (Roseanne show characters became characters in GI and at the end the GI characters assume Roseanne characters - Bob was Roseanne's sister! )

He lived in my hometown of Princeton, WV. He was running a little radio station called "Little Buddy Radio" that played oldies and mostly "feel good" music. He was a loved and very active member of our community. He will be greatly missed

I forgot to mention, he was fully committed to helping the handicapped and underprivleged in our area. He was so much more than Gilligan or Maynard G. Krebs to us. A huge part of Princeton was lost

Aw Kelly, I didn't know he was from Princeton (or WVA for that matter)! Sounds like he meant a lot to your town .
His life definitely mattered a lot to so many people.

He wasn't FROM Princeton ( I actually don't know where he's *from*)but he had lived there for the past 14 years. He loved it there! I never actually met him but tons of people said he was just the nicest, sweetest man

Here is a link to his website. If anyone is interested, they are asking that in lieu of flowers and cards, send donations to The Denver Foundation (which helps the handicapped in WV). The addy is on his website

This is so sad, I didn't know that he died. I loved Gilligan's Island. I even had an autographed picture of him when I was younger that I had hung up over my bed. Ahhhhhh, this is sad
