Whoops, I think I initially posted this in the wrong forum!!
I just adopted a cat from the Humane Society that has an upper respitory infection. He started taking meds maybe 7 days ago. I brought him home and set him up in a room all by himself. He doesn't have any contact with my other cat. Every time I handle him, I wash my hands, but can my old cat catch it from the fur that's still on my clothes after I handle the infected cat? I've never had a sick cat before, and I just got this kitty today. I don't want my other cat to get infected. I plan to keep infected kitty in this room for at least 3 weeks, but can the germs "linger" after that time? Would I need to "fumigate" this room after he's better to kill germs that might, in the future, infect old kitty?? Please help!!
