Kitten can't clean herself

Hello, I'm new here and have a problem with one of my kittens, Asia. Asia is about five or six months old, and I got her at a pet store I used to work at. She's having a lot of problems with not being able to clean poop off of herself. Her butt is always so dirty, and I have to clean it off with wet tissues. What could the problem be?

If she is longhaired you may have clip the hair round her butt to keep it cleaner.

She's not longhaired at all though....she's shorthaired.

Ollie's a short hair but sometimes has a dirty bum... do you NEVER see her grooming and cleaning her area so that it's always dirty or just every once in awhile? 9 times out of 10 Oliver will get to it shrotly - I've only had to help clean him up a few times... guess he was just lazy those times...

I've seen the other cat cleaning off her butt, but I don't see her cleaning off her own butt. She grooms herself normally, except around the butt area. It's almost always dirty.

Slightly off topic here, but aren't you glad your not a cat so you don't have to lick your butt clean?

My kitties are like that, one always has poop on his foot. What I do is run a slightly damp cloth over their fur, this seems to stimulate them to lick off. (I do clean off Bogeys foot because I don't want him to eat his poop!)

My Wiggies always has a dirty butt! The vet said he's just lazy. We keep a washcloth in the bathroom just for him, and when we see him use the litterbox, we grab him and wipe his butt! He gets the idea and immediately grooms himself. Otherwise he'll sit down somewhere and leave little brown spots there
