A strange kitty has just broken into my house, by busting in a window screen. He ran into my room, where and I have closed the doors to my room to keep the other cats out. Can someone tell me how to get him to be calm enough that I can get him into a cat carrier and to the shelter? He is sitting on the top shelf of my closet now, and whenever I get near him, he runs wildly.

WOW! Does he seem aggressive? If not I would try to talk calmly to him and see if by offering some soft food if he would approach you. Just make sure you have a thick blanket or towel and BE CAREFUL not to get hurt! Is there someone (friend) you can call yo help you?

Leave him be, put your cats in a room by themselves and leave the doors open to the rest of the house giving him a way out of your home-

Either that, or keep him in the room where he is now and work with socializing him which will take a bit of time and a lot of patience.

Well, I have him. He is in a cat carrier locked in the bathroom. I would leave him in the bathroom free, but he is to zippy. He is not aggressive or violent at all. He seems far more scared than anything else. He has a bloody nose and that is about all I can find wrong with him. I am going to take him to the shelter as soon as possible. I want him to get tested for FIV and FeLV, as my two aren't vaccinated (strictly indoors). I would keep him if he were ok, but I have a small condo, with a two pet limit.

Maybe he is someone's pet who ran away, got in a fight, and is now scared and can't get home?

Make sure when you drop him off at the shelter that you give a full account of how you came across him. I would also post flyers in your neighborhood describing this cat (a picture would be even better) and stating that you had found him and how he is now at the shelter so that if he is owned..he can be reunited with his owner.
