I know people frequently buy sweaters or shirts for dogs, but what about cats? I saw a website with some shirts for cats and wondered....anyone ever tried it? Cause my black cat would look awfully cute with a halloween shirt on in October....

They're pretty tolerant- they both wear collars with no problem and I admit I tried putting a baby tshirt on one...he didn't exactly jump for joy over it but he didn't freak out either. He walked backwards a bit, and if it hadn't gotten in his way while walking I don't think he would have really cared.

i'm sure u could find cat outfits or make a small dog outfit into a cat outfit. personally i think putting clothes on a dog or cat looks kinda of...how do i say...stupid. but that's just me...i let my animals be animals.

lol, I thought so to at first but my terrier LOVES his clothes. As in...if we take his collar off, he cries and howls until we put it back on, and in the winter he'll flatly refuse to go outside without his jean jacket. He's a bit of a strange dog though...I'm not certain he realizes he's a dog.

Somewhere I have a picture of Abby, my mom's dog, dressed up in a wig, a tutu, and legwarmers. Then we got her to 'dance' too.

I love clothse for animals! I want some for my 2 too!

I'll have to find it- I've been scrolling through cat supply sites all day and its lost in the shuffle. I do know that they clothes weren't by nature cat clothes, they just had the smallest dog sizes listed under a cat clothes header. I imagine cats couldn't/wouldn't wear anything bulky, & it would have to be something heavy on the spandex.

I have hairless cats and live in Michigan, so cloths for my cats is a good thing!
I purchase a lot of them off ebay, most are "dog" shirts, but as long as you measure you will be all set and I also a have few contacts that make fleece shirts for Sphynx. One place that I seen a lot of cute dog/cat shirts was Target. They have a new line of pet cloths and they range from $9.99-$24.99. Here are a new pictures of my babies wearing their shirts and sweaters.

Here is Vinnie (the boy I lost) and Monte in his Steelers hirt

Tai, this pic was taken this morning

Did it take your sphynxes long to get used to clothing? I'd love to try it out just for fun.

I think animal clothes are cute to an extent, haha... my black lab gets dressed up for halloween every year and I used to dress her in baby clothes and tshirts when she was a pup... as for Oliver, I've thought about it but I think he plain wont like it... he does have a collection of bandannas though (most of which I've made - I make them for the dog too), his favorite one is his PennState one - although he looks more like a tiger with his stripes, he's a Nittany Lion fan at heart! He doesn't mind them at all and actually thinks he's gonna get a bath if I take them off... currently he's sporting a kelly green one with tiny gold polka dots (I was in too big a rush this morning to get to our game that I forgot to switch it to his PSU one for while he watched us beat Southern Florida!).... anyhow, I just know my kitty can be quite picky and am also kinda afraid to spend the money and have him hate it... let us know if you get something and how your kitty reacts!

You can kinda see his PSU one in this pic - I'm waiting on more pics to be developed in which he's wearing them too

Aw, he's so cute in them! The terrier I spoke about earlier gets bandanas when he returns from the groomers...he really think's he's pretty hot in them. But like I said, I'm not entirely sure he recieved the memo that he's a DOG, not a person.

Within a few minutes of putting the shirt on, mine were ok with it. Tai had never had cloths on before yesterday. She walked a little funny for about 5 minutes and then she was ok.
It is easier if you start when they are kittens though.

Did she walk with her butt low to the ground like the shirt weighed a ton? That's what Cupid does when I first put a shirt on him!

He loves clothes as long as they're not itchy, like wool. He sits on his butt and sticks his paws out for me when I dress him.
I usually only put a shirt on him on bath day, after his bath to keep drafts off him (and keep him clean for a few days!) and then just whenever I feel like he needs one on (if I wouldn't be comfortable naked, then he's probably not either).

When he was a baby I used to make them from socks--the kind that are just straight and long. I'd cut the feet off and cut arm holes in the top and they fit perfectly! Now he's too big for that (which is a shame because they fit really well and were super cute!) so I buy him dog clothes.

Some of my favorite sites to buy doggie/kitty clothes are:

http://www.catsmopolitan.com/
http://www.glamourdog.com/index.html
http://www.hipdoggie.com/
http://www.louisdog.com/
http://www.trixieandpeanut.com/

^ this is a sock! See how well it fits!

^ This is his most recent shirt. I got it for his bday this month.

Purr - how cute! funny, i just bought that same heart shirt today, it was on sale, YAY!

While I don't plan on regularly "dressing-up" the kitty, I want him to get used to what kitty clothes feel like because I don't want him getting chilled when we travel for the holidays.

That and then I have another reason to take pictures of my cute little boy!
...as if I need a reason!

Purr,

I love that pic of Cupid with that sock on! He looks so small!! I did the same with mine, socks just fit so nice when they are that small!

I bought some stuff on sale at Target to day...as long as it fits they don't seem to care, but if its too big they get upset. I'll take some pictures later. I tried a sock to, but it was WAY too small. Oh well.
