Have contact with anyoen trying to rehome, or possibly be able to help look into kitties at a shelter. Steve talked to his daughter tonight, and her kitty got run over
so we are trying to help find her another one. Her mom will let her have one..just doesnt want to take her out looking. *has issues with this woman but keeps them to herself*

It's not that hard to find a cat, but is it a good idea for this girl to get another one?
Her mother won't go look, so she most likely won't go to a vet.
The previous cat got hit by a car, so, he/she must have been allowed out.
It just doesn't sound like a good situation to get another animal into.

It was an accident that the cat got out. her little brother left the door open on his way home from school. he feels horrible about it as well. I know the cat will see a vet. the other one did as well. I dont like the woman, but she makes suree things are tended to as far as animal care. they have a JRT tha is in excellent health. She is just moody and preg, and saying steve doesnt "do anything" to make the kids happy. which is BULL but once again i simply want to prove her wrong.

Try petfinder.com, They have pictures of cats at your local shelters and you dont even have to leave your house to look. That way you can have a few in mind to look at before you go. It also usually tells you a little about the temperment the cat has shown in the shelter. I also would look back at the adoption center of your local petsmart because they have kitties you can look at, as well as a message board with people trying to home cats/kittens/dogs/puppies/etc.

Vets are also a good resource. They often know of someone who is trying to rehome a cat or find homes for kittens. Sometimes they even have some they are bording at the clinic! Hope that helps a little. I would also say that it wouldnt be a bad thing to hold off on getting a cat for a week or so to let the girl grieve before she gets a new cat. Even though grieving is not fun, it is something that has to be done before someone can move on.

Best of luck!

this wont be a right away thing. I checked petfinder in their area. not much.

I would take her to the shelter myself..but shes in Sebree Kentucky steve and I are in Minnesota..

and not many shelters or rescue orgs around here would want the cat shipped.
