So i went to the doctor for a physical for school, and my cholesterol and triglycerides were checks......and they were through the roof.... a normal triglyceride level is around 130...mine were 600 something....a normal cholesterol level is 150 mine was 264.......your good cholesterol is supposed to be at 41 at least...mine was 23.........ooops

So my doctor put me on 10mg lipitor, and gave me a suggested siet sheet.... at first i was upset because i am only 24..I shouldnt be on cholesterol medication........but then i realized that having this knowlege so young may be a lifesaver......

I have changed my diet completly.... I have cut out bad carbs, and stuck to whole wheat breads, pastas and such........Instead of sugars im eating more fruits and veggies.......Im drinking more skim milk and eating non fat yougurt....lean meats and more fish.......an of course a boat load of water......

I have started walking an hour a day, plus stayingmore active during the day.....and let me tell you i feel great....Im sleeping better, losing weight, feeling better, and i havent had a panic attack in a long while........

Its funny cause i have tried to go on "diets" tons of time to lose the extra weight....all failed miserably.....but once my health was in question it was easy to make more intelligent decisions about what goes in my body.......

So my cholesterol story may turn out well.......and i wanted to share it with you all so that you can see.....if A non diciplined 24 year old can change her ways like that....well anyone can........

I am just hoping that all of you in the same boat as me will be more cautious of your lifestyles....so we can all be healthy, happy and here to talk about our sweet kitties for years to come..........

If not for yourself do it for your kits.......

love you guys

Great job getting motivated. I wish I had that motivation...it shouldn't take a doctor to get me to work out. Have fun with your kits and have fun losing weight and getting healthy!!!

I wish you all the best...good for you for tackling this now at this age. I let mine go for way too long, and ended up needing a rather different kind of diet to get mine down to some semblance of normal, but thankfully, no meds. I never had numbers that high though, sounds like you may have a genetic component to this.
