Ok guys here another one for ya !

I have a cat proof back yard. Fenced all the way around then an additional cat fence put around the spots where a cat could wiggle through. It has been tested by my cats all summer and they haven't found a way out so I'd say it's cat proof.

Tomorrow I have to vaccum the house and my foster momma cat HATES the sound of the vaccum ! She gets aggitated and growls and generally freaked out. I was thinking of putting her outside with supervision along with her 3 babies. Is there any danger for the kittens to be outside in a suburban backyard (no pesticides / herbicides). They' d be supervised by my daughter and husband. Momma cat won't stay outside for as long as I need to vaccum.

If that's not a great idea, then any suggestions ?

Thanks
Julie

I would ot allow your babies outside just yet - they should be well vaccinated and kittens should not be allowed outside until they are well adjusted to their surroundings and have developed a good immune system - and that includes having had vaccines! I realize your back yard may be fine but there are still bacteria and fungi lurking in soil and kittens sample so many things. Can you find an enclosed area in your home to place them while the cleaning is occuring.

Once when I was young and caring for newborns, I foolishly took the kittens outsuide- thinking they'd love the outdoors - just on the grass. Well, mama was not too pleased and also smarter than me (I was prob 10 at the time in my defense) and she took each and every kitten indoors where they belonged!!

Find a safe place for them while you clean. A closet - or clean arond them. It is also stressful to move kittens.

Hey Julie....what about putting the entire family in a crate and taking the crate outdoors....I wouldn't allow them outdoors to explore...there is too much opportunity for them to hide or even somehow manage to find a way around the cat fencing.

I agree also put them all in a crate. Maybe even indoors like in the basement that way it won't be as loud.
