Well I found this cat on my doorstep a couple of weeks ago and after about 4 days of it acting sick I took it to the vet and they said she had hookworms and game me some wormer, an antibiotic and a anti-diarrheal medicine. Well the day after I gave her the wormer she started acting very lethargic, she went and stayed under my car all day long and she wouldnt eat or drink so I took her back to the vet and they said she was dehydrated and that they needed to keep her. They ended up keeping her for 4 days/3nights and I just go her back yesterday. She still has diarrhea though. WHile she was at the vet they gave her some saline and 2 shots a day (Gentocin and Penicillin), I THINK i heard him say something abouta bowel infection over the phone. Well anyways, she still has the diarrhea, she is acting better, but I am just wondering if this is somethign that will go away soon? How long does it take a cat to recover from hookworms? I am still given her the antibiotic twice a day and the diarrhea medicine 3 times a day and on monday I have to give her another dose of the wormer.

What did your vet say as far as how long it would take?? They would be the best person to gauge the time your cat will need to be on medicine.

They didnt say, they just told me to give her the wormer once a week for 3 weeks. Then once a month after that. I was just wondering how long it normally takes for a cat to get over something like that, and if the persistant diarrhea is something that I should worry about.

Some members may have experience with this...but you may also want to give your vet office a quick call and ask them these questions as well.

I'd give your vet a call with these questions. No one is a vet here so since your vet prescribed the medicine they would be your best bet.
