Rho, the last of my three cats and my favorite, passed away last night in his sleep of natural causes. He was 19 years old, and had used his nine lives over the years to survive many medical crises including FUS, hyperactive thyroid, skin cancer, pyothorax, and diabetes. Finally, his arthritis had gotten to a point where he had great difficulty getting around, and just couldn't take care of himself anymore. We were resigned to euthanizing him, and the procedure was scheduled for this afternoon, but nature stepped in and took him first.

I feel happy because Rho was a beautiful and sweet boy who loved and was well loved himself. He had many good years with us, and is now no longer burdened by his ailments. He went quietly and naturally, as I would like to go myself someday.

He will be missed very much.

Thanks to everyone who gave me advice on euthanasia in an earlier thread.

Kevin

Oh Kevin i'm so sorry!
I've been keeping an eye on your other thread wondering if there was an update?!.

Rest assured Rho is at peace now and suffering no more over Rainbow Bridge

Do you have a picture of Rho that we can see?, because i feel we know him after your other thread

RIP Sweet Rho
Run and play like you were a kitten again with the other Rainbow Bridge kitties until you see your dad again

yes Rho, run like you have never run before - play like you have never played before - you dont need any of those 9 lifes at the bridge, because there you are young and healthy and carefree.... enjoy sweet one.

Know that there are those that miss you enormously, but you will never ever be forgotton

RIP Rho - until you meet again

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and wishes. I'm sure Rho would appreciate all of the attention!

By request, here is a photo of him. This was taken a few years ago, before his age started to catch up with him. He was a big sweet boy.

What a big fuzzy cute cat. My condolences go out to you...I'm about to lose a beloved fuzzhead too. Chester's 15 and in failing health...kidney failure, anemia, the works. Nothing more the vet can do for him since he won't eat or drink. Probably have to put him down tomorrow...I'm devastated. Rho and Chester will be friends in kitty heaven. Best wishes.

Oh...He was beautiful. My heart goes out to you. I know what it feels like to have to say "Good-Bye" to a long time friend. I lost my precious Snoopy at the age of 20 in February.

Kevin, what a beautiful kitty. I am sure that your journey at the end was meant to be just between you and Rho and no outside intervention. Before he saw the light, I am sure he met your glance just once to say goodbye and thank you for a wonderful life-

Oh my goodness Kevin!, what a gorgeous boy he is
It's no wonder you loved Rho so much like you did, he looks so relaxed and happy in that picture.

Well, he'll be like that again right now don't you worry!, only this time he has more kittie friends to play with until he meets you once again
