One day around Halloween, 2003, a strange little cat appeared in our yard. He kept appearing, and soon he was scratching at our porch door, as if he lived here. We decided to let him in, and feed him. Our other cat didn't care much for the intrusion, but he's very passive and easy going, so he settled quickly.
He was such a beautiful, well kept stray that we at first thought he had belonged to someone. At first, we actually thought he was a she - and might even be pregnant (as we had no idea what kind of cat he was, and he was big). We never found any lost cat posters, so after a week, we decided to keep him.
Before Sammy, I had recieved Elvis as a gift for my tenth birthday from a vet center. Before litle Elvy, we had Fanny, a tabby, and her daughter, Bugsy, who both left us when I was only eight or so.
Anyway, time passed and we began to wonder what Sammy (who my sister got to name) was exactly. We decided that one of his parents must've been a Maine Coon. So I'm wondering if any of you could tell us exactly what he is.
Sammy is a cute little mutt-kitty. He's a bit weird and clumsy, and loves to drink standing water from the sink and shower, as well as roll around in the shower. He's not a lap cat and doesn't like to be held, but he will rub against you and sometimes be demanding for attention.
He also squeeks whenever he jumps upon landing, and scratches at the door. We let him out very rarely, and we make sure to follow him around. He really only chews on grass, which we know helps digestion. Unlike Elvis, he never eats people food. Not even tuna (though he licks the can). Just cat food. He also goes for his food bowl whenever someone enters the kitchen, takes a few bites, and leaves. I'm sure this isn't uncommong, but he also likes to have his own litterbox and won't use one at all if he has to share.
He has the tail (almost) of a Maine Coon, and a common pattern. His head is also very Coon-ish, but he lacks the furry ear tips, and the trademark large fur main. He's big, but nowhere near as big as purebred Maine Coons can get. He has a gentle disposition, and usually a vacant or dumb look in his eyes. He's a real sweety, and a beautiful animal, though he starts fights a lot with Elvis for territory in the house.
Sammy is probably three by now, while Elvis is 10, and very healthy for his age. Sammy also stared in an 8 minute movie I made (I'm a Photo major in college, and I've also made short films). A very nice animal. Imagine a small Maine Coon without the excess fur. We love our mutt-kitty.

Elvis looks evil when his eyes are like that, but he's very timid and a sweety.
