Mab (long haired) and emmet (shorthaired) tend to find that the bath tub after a shower is the best resting place, because of this their hair tends to knot up (regardless of how often they are brushed).........mabby is eaiser to deal with herlong hair is a lot easier to detangle and she gets them less often........but my poor emmets hair starts taking on the texture of a stuffed animal after its been through the wash......he has that same think plush hair......I brush and brush, and have even cut out a few knots...i try to monitor his bathroom resting, though it is his favorite place..........but to no avail...............................
what do i do...do i need to bring his to the groomers.....do i have to have him shaved.............eeeeeek.....how do i take care of mab and emmets delema.....

I have glass doors to my bath tub so the cats can not get in there as long as I keep the doors closed.

Either keep the door shut or wipe out the tub to dry it off for before the cats jump in

thanx..... I will try that......but how do i deal with the knots emmt has....so i need to just cut them out and start fresh, or is there a less evasive method???

hmmm ... I'm stumped. My experience (and from experience talking to groomers/breeders) is that bathing helps prevents mats by getting out a lot of the dead, shedding hair. Of course I blow dry mine and brush and comb while I'm doing it. If mine got wet while I wasn't at home or something and they dried before I was able to get to them, I bet it may be a different story! I agree with the others that suggest keeping them out of the bathroom. To get out exisisting mats, I suggest taking them in to get shaved. It's too risky to try to cut them out yourself. Cats have a thin membrane like, outer layer of skin that is hard to see and easy to knick.

ok thanx for the info.........emmet loves the bathroom.........poor cat.......ill just make sure to dry the tub if they happen to be going in thier......thanx again
