As far as the hotel thing, I feel bad for the both the homeless people and the hotel. Yes these people need a place to stay but when it comes right down to it the hotel is a business. I have the feeling they can't go a couple of weeks without bring in any money while the housing situation is figured out. It's a rock and a hard space for them I imagine.
That being said, I find it difficult to deal with the fact that this country is so unprepared to deal with distasters like this. How many times do we have hurricanes and earth quakes and tornados that wipe out areas? Admittedly they are small areas but reason would tell us that if we have small storms we can have big ones. You'd think it would have occurred to someone in that maybe, we might want to have a back up plan in mind for when large storms happen because they can and do happen. It breaks me heart to think that even one life was lost because, they weren't able to mobilize quickly enough.
