I was watching the news and I still am in shock. It's unbelievable the damage that has been done by Katrina.

A spokesperson from the Red Cross said the best thing you can do is give donations. And it got me thinking... after checking the member list, there have been over 1,000 members active in less than 2 weeks. If all of us just gave a few dollars each that could really help out. If each of those 1,000 members gave just $10 that would be $10,000!! That's a lot of food, water, etc for all the people who have aboslutely nothing in the south.

What do you guys think?

I just donated $20 (in memorial of my dad and pop) through the Red Cross website at www.redcross.org. Not much but every little bit will help!

I'll be donating somewhere tomorrow when I get paid.

One thing to be wary of - where there is human compassion there are those who will take advantage of that. There has already been reports here in Denver of scammers calling to solicit donations for the Red Cross. The Red Cross is not making calls. When you donate to any cause, be sure that you contact the organization you want to donate to and don't donate to those who call you out of the blue.

Puerto Rico... land of rice and beans.
I received this address in my email inbox:

http://www.worldslist.com/us/katrina.htm This gives you a good idea where to call.

Call them on the phone. If anyone calls you out of the blue for donations, ask them for a website or national 1-800 number on which to donate. I will try to make a donation in the next few days through the Red Cross in Puerto Rico.

I am trying to see if I can make a blood donation anywhere around here.
