My mom had a stray cat (VERY lovable) wander under her deck and have babies! We have found homes for 3 of them; however, there is still 1 more kitty about 5 weeks old. We really need to find a home for the mommy and her baby.

All the "no kill" shelters are full and we hate to take them to the humane society as this time of year when there are thousands of unwanted cats, they do not last long there.

If someone can PLEASE help us. My mom and I neither one can take these poor little babies as my son is very allergic (we had to find a home for our 2 cats already).

The Mommy is mostly white with a little black/gray tiger marking on her face, tail and one stripe on her back. The baby is all black and white with beautiful blue eyes!

Please e-mail me ASAP if you are able to help. We will drive them to you!

My parents have to board up their deck as other wild animals are getting under there as well and then the cats won't have that to go under!!

Thanks for helping!

wderoy..first, it is critical that you list your city and state. This is a world wide message board and no one will step forward if they do not know where you are. I wish you hadn't placed the kittens at such a tender age...kittens should stay with mom until they are at least 8 weeks of age. Also...the best thing to do is to try to place locally...contact your vet offices, put up flyers at your local supermarket, contact friends, family neighbors. Also, place ads in your local paper.

Thank you for the advice. I am new at this. As far as placing the kitties. We contacted our vet and they said the kitties are perfectly fine to be able to be separated from their mommy. Also, we have done extensive work trying to find a home for these guys. We found a home for the last kitty and now just have the mommy left.

Thank you.
Also, I am in Canton, Ohio

That's interesting because it is illegal in Virginia to place any kittens or puppies under the age of 8 weeks. I would highly recommend that you have mom cat spayed if at all possible since there are no more kittens that she is nursing. She will most likely go back into heat and may become pregnant again. My parents don't mind paying to have the mom cat spayed; however, they are not going to keep her around. They are not able to take her inside and our neighborhood is not good for outdoor cats. Actually it isn't even allowed! So if we don't find a home, she'll have to be taken to the humane society. I have looked at several "rescue" shelters in Ohio and they are all full. This is a bad time of year.

Also, when I got my kitties they were about 6wks old and they are healthy, loving cats who are actually more like dogs! haha A friend of mine had to take them after I found out my little boy is allergic but they are doing great and have a wonderful home! So I don't know why they have to be 8 weeks but trust me, I would never do anything to harm an animal and definately checked with our vet first.

Thank you so much for all of the listings that you gave me! Have a good day!

It's great your two are doing ok...however, my own personal experience with our rescue group is that kittens that are taken from their mom earlier than 8 weeks of age are more prone to develop behavioral isssues then those that stay with their mom until they are at least 8-12 weeks of age. As I stated..that it the policy in Virginia and I do believe if possible, it is best for the kittens to stay with their mom.

My recommendation is to have her spayed now..in her current condition she is vunerable to becoming pregnant again. Additionally, I would download the PDF called "how to find homes for homeless pets" that you can find here:

http://www.natewood.net/Rehome.html

It gives advice on how to place an ad so that the animal has a better chance at finding a home.
