Anne had a cat named apricot in hebrew, I think.. and one day it got lost and she rant about town calling out "apricot!"

I think sahara is lovely.. but honey, I like it too.

How do you say Apricot in Hebrew?

I used BabyNames.com to come up with Mika, I wanted something that meant something. It's Ponca (Native American) for Wise Little Racoon... which he is! We took to calling him "Galloping Raccoon", too. Holly came pre-named due to being born right before Xmas.

Of course some of our international folks may tell me these meanings are wrong, but they're what's posted on that site

Here's just some I grabbed as I scrolled through A-M:

ASTRID: Scandinavian- Unusual Beaty & Strength
BELLE: French- Beauty
CASSIA: Greek- Cinnamon
ELDORA: Spanish- Golden (Call her Ellie)!
ENYA: Celtic- Little Fire (I like this one
)
KALEI: Hawaiian- One who Works for the King

KEEGAN: Celtic-Small & Firey, Bright Flame
KIZZY: Hebrew- Cinnamon
LEONA: French- Like a Lion
MAHA: African- Beautiful Eyes
MEDEA: Greek- Part goddess, part sorcerress
MELINA: Greek- Bright Yellow
MERIA: African- Rebellious One

If you'd like to name her in memory of those who died in Katrina:
MARA: Hebrew- Bitter Sea
MARJA: Scandinavian- Sadness from the sea

Wow! What a huge outpouring of name suggestions and responses. Thanks all, especially Sooz123 for doing all the homework with the origins and meanings.

We will decide by Friday. Any other ideas? - keep them coming...

What a great bunch of people at this forum!

Junebug is perfect!
Which burb are you all in? I'm in Chicago proper, Bucktown to be exact. There are a number of Chicagoans and Illini in general on the board. Hope to see you and Junebug around here more!
