I'm a bit concerned - Meeko has been on his new wet food only diet for almost a week now, and he is not eating the recommended amount of food. Previously he was eating dry food, and he always ate the recommended amount. With the wet food, however, he is only eating approx. one 5.5 oz. can each day - but he is 15 lbs. (healthy weight according the the vet), and so according to the feeding recommendations and what the vet told me, he should be eating at least one and a half cans a day, and more likely two cans. I have tried giving him the recommended amount, but he never eats it - he'll eat approx. a can, give or take, half in the morning and half in the evening, and if I give him more he refuses to eat it. I'm really concerned that he's not getting the appropriate nutrition because he's not eating enough - should I be worried? Thanks!

LOL, it's not so feeble, apparently, because you are right!

Previously he was eating California Natural dry food - now we have switched to Royal Canin Urinary SO wet food.

It could just be an adjustment... I know when Kandie switched diets she ate less for awhile ... check with the vet... was Meeko on only canned or a dry mix is he eating canned only now?? Canned has alot of mosture and fills them with less at times..

The recommended amounts shown on the label are often ludicrous. If your cat eats as much as he wants, and if his weight is steady, and his body shape normal, then he's eating enough.
