Okay, I have another question tonight...

I have a 5 month old, Tobie, and he comes up to my fiance and I when he wants to go to sleep and "sucks" on our necks, arms....and funny enough went after my fiance's nipple the other night. Its like he wants milk...does this mean he was taken from his mother too early...because he was a stray and we got him from Animal Rescue....! Its doesnt bother us (except the whole nipple thing, freaked out my fiance)....we just hold him and try to make him stop...but every night he falls asleep sucking on my arm....he just looks soo peaceful doing so...but i dont like it, and i dont encourage him to do this.....

I have a 6 month old here that suckles blankets, pillows and clothes.
It's just a comfort thing.
I know she didn't leave her mom too early, because I adopted her mom too.

If the baby is suckling skin, I would break that habit.
Find a stuffed animal for bedtime suckling.

My Ellies sucks on bare skin, whenever she can and she is a year old. She was with her mom for 11 weeks so was not taken away too early. But I cannot stop her, whatever I do, it is like she is programmed to do it and no amount of 'no' or distraction or liftiing down does any good. SO I really don't know how to advise you.

Bijou has to have a suckle on my neck every night before he is ready to sleep and kneads my face and neck while he's doing it. It seems to be a comfort thing for him and I don't really mind.

My little Bob (6-months of age) does the same exact thing but uses my palm rather than my neck. I tend to agree that it is a comfort thing since I was Bob's mom (practically)...I rescued him when he was hours old. I also don't really mind...it's sort-of cute

Mooch used to suckle a particular sweater I had. It's been at work the past 2 months so I'm not sure if she would if I bring it home, but she used to.
