I now have 2 little kittens; Jasmine I found at a shelter; she came in as a stray. The other one, Senja, I got from a neighbour, and they had not payed attention to when the kittens were born....????.... Doesn't make sense.
Anyway, I really don't know the excact age of any of them, although I'm guessing Jasmine is 9 and Senja is 7 weeks old. Jasmine now weighs a little over 2 Lbs although she is quite slim. She was malnurished when I got her. She's been on nutritional supplement. Senja weighed in on 1 Lb 7 1/2 oz today, and she is quite plump.
What is the typical weight in kittens ages 6,7 and 8 weeks old?
Senja has not been to the vet yet; I'll take her on Monday. Jasmine has been several times due to all her issues, and first time he thought she was 6 weeks old. 2 weeks later he thought she was 11 weeks!!! Doesn't make sense... I think she's 9 weeks... Maybe 10. For sure more than 8.
Any tips or thoughts on this?
By the way, I'll post pictures of her as soon as I'm able to...

Great! I'd love to know what your kittens weighed, it will be helpful for me! So if anyone else has this info about your cats, I'd love to know!!! Even up to 12 weeks would be great!
Thank you so much!

Hi Terese,

I remember singing that tune back when I got my Sophie. Seems some people don't tell the truth when they are trying to get rid of a kitten. Thus, I got home and found he could not eat solid food by himself.
I've got the records here some where
*lol*

Then came my new baby kitten this year, and it has finally become VERY apparent to me, weight alone was not the way to do this. Different breeds and all... I judged Sophie's age by baby teeth, abilities, weight... basically by comparing to many other kittens at close to the same ages.

Recently I found this great link:
http://www.geocities.com/turbo502002...schema-en.html

I've always had large cats...and seem to choose them as babies not knowing that. But my new kitten is staying small ! This is a whole new thing. So that chart really helped reassure me I am taking good care of her.

I won't give you all the weights, just the ranges, because I had 8 kittens!

Week 6 - largest 1 lb. 3.8 oz., smallest 11 oz.
Week 8 - largest 1 lb. 12 oz., smallest 1 lb. 2 oz.

As you see my babies were pretty small. Small momma cat - large litter, small babies.
All healthy and very sweet kittens.

Our first vet visit jaiden was 1.6 lbs and Lombardi was 1.9 lbs. That was 8 weeks old. Then at 11 weeks (approx) old they were 2.1 lbs for Jaiden and 3.2 for Lombardi. At 13 weeks old they were 2.8 for Jaiden and 3.12 for Lombardi. We got tomorrow for their final shots so I'm sure Lombardi will be 4 lbs by then! They will be 14 weeks on Thursday.

Jaiden is growing but Lombardi is growing so much faster. I Hope this helps!

Our vet also said when they find kittens who are brought in they estimate one pound per month. So a 2 lb kitten = 2 months. However my cats are in the middle so that wouldn't work for them!

Hi,

Was interested in weight of kittens. My kittens are BSH and a litter of 5

Weight at 6 weeks and 5 days

F-Shiloh 1lb 2oz

F-Willow 1lb 3oz

M-Tiggar 1lb 3oz

M-Dash 1lb 4oz

M-Bolt 1lb 7oz

Dash was the smallest kitten at birth and since on solids ( four and a half weeks old) he is now the second heaviest.

Bolt as always been the biggest. Shiloh is the biggest girl but her weight is the least. All lively and up to mischief. I feed them Royal Canin kitten biscuits and Felix kitten food, they are still taking milk from mum too.

That's a bit less than some kittens their age,   but from what i have heard, BSH are slow growing  and in a breeding book I have , it has a graph showing the usual weight / growth for kittens of 5 different breeds.  I was not surprised to see Maine Coon the largest but I was surprised to see BSH was  lower than Siamese at this age!    Your kittens look to be pretty close to what it looks like on that graph.

But   I would suggest you talk to your breeding mentor and other experienced BSH breeders who have cats from the same lines.

 & welcome to TCS!

I just took my two fosters in, they were almost 9 weeks. Girl was 2.3lbs, boy was 2lbs even. They were a little thin according to the vet but they also needed to be dewormed.

How big did your kittens end up being? And what breed of cat? I have a kitten tracking dead on with their weights
