New York that is.Ted & I have had enough of NY ,A lot of things are promting this move ,no jobs,high taxs , high everything,( snow!!) Kids that is a big one,our sons have never tried to grow up,mommy and daddy have always been there to pick up the slack,not anymore I have been married 32 years and have had kids in my house for 31 of them,I am 50 now and I want to be just a gramma,so we are moving to Hot Springs VA,I have a uncle there ,and Ted has a brother in Richmand.We are leaving October 1, so I will not be on line a couple of days around then. Wish us luck.

Good luck. I hope this move will give you all the things you want. I don't know that much about Virginia, but hopefully it has warmer weather than New York.

Having visited upstate NY, I can't say that I blame you, for moving. If you're looking for warm, why not come to AZ? We've got LOTS of warm!

we thought about AZ, but we want to be within arms reach of the grandkids,just incase of trouble,where we are going is only 6 hours away. I can't wait to go though, if VA does not work out maybe we will land in AZ!so watch out for us.

I wish I could move out of NY too, but I can't until my kids are adults, (Their dad lives here). Rochester, NY is just how you described your area. Jobs are very hard to come by. I am glad mine is full time and reasonably secure. It may be retail and underpaid, but it's a job.
I have friends who just moved to NC. They love it. I envy you not having to shovel snow this winter
The "kids" will just have to grow up now ...LOL Plus it will give the grandkids a chance to take vacations to see you which will make those visits even more special.
