The Poetry Game, Sort Of

There once was a one-eyed cat named Maddie,
who was cute as a button but not overly catty.
She had a bro named Franz, who wore a tuxedo,
it made him look suave--it did wonders for his libido.
They lived in Brooklyn--that's in N-Y-C,
happily ever after with their mom, which makes three!

five kittens who hadn't a mom
they were tiny and fit in my palm
they were such a mess
their gender a guess
and now they are grown up and calm!

NOT!

2 cats
one fat
one skinny
little rat

One grumpy
one dumb
with two little
kitty thumbs.

One is flabby
one is not
both are tabby
one has spots

Silly kitties
to and fro
little fuzzies
please do throw

Crinkled paper
time to play
little biter
run away

Wrestle, bite,
yowl, scratch
fight
little kitty, he cannot catch

Scritchy belly
one not two
touch the flabby
he'll bite you

Sleepy time
cats in their chairs
now my Rhyme
all covered in hairs.

Sadie, my cat loves to pester,
Her brother who's first name is Dexter,
They run through the house,
In search of a mouse,
I'm worried the cops will arrest her.

Little kitties in a basket
one has a blow torch
one has a hatchet

Now what kind of tasket
are they doing in that basket?

I tisked it... the tasket
of kitties in their basket
with their blowtorch and their hatchet.

They tisked my tisking
I tisked their tasking
they tisked while they tasked
in their little kitty basket

And they tisked and tasked and tasked and tisked
and I tisked and tisked their tasket in their basket.
Then I took away the hatchet, the blowtorch they blasted
and then I saw the tasket I tisked was, tisk! another basket!
A basket for doing more taskets in baskets, for making more taskit baskets
and they made more tasket baskets in their tasket basket
while I tisked their basket tasket tasking

Poodle the cat,
Could not get a date,
She scared all the toms
With all of her weight.

She meowed and cried,
Oh how she was lonely,
The boy kitty next door
Told her she was homely.

Well, one day this Poodle cat
Sat tall and stated loud:
"Yes, I am a flabby tabby,
And dammit, I'M PROUD!"

You are the greatest mommy,
You feed me every day;
You give me hugs and kisses,
And lots of toys for play.

You keep me strong and healthy,
And take me to the vet (ugh);
You are the greatest mommy,
On this earth I bet.

You clean my nasty litter box,
And never make a fuss;
Having you around the house,
Is certainly a plus.

When the nights grow colder,
I crawl into your bed;
You keep me nice and toasty warm,
As I wrap around your head.

You are the greatest mommy,
In every single way;
After much consideration,
I think I`ll let you stay.

I love this! I wish I could do it as well as all of you!

padding around the placies
all puttering and pacing
soon all creeping
into warm soft placies
for sweet little
catnappies

snoozing all sweetlies

A cat,
A bat,
And a rat
Sat.
What's with that?

Tosca is a funny cat,
She chases passing bugs,
She prefers to go to daddy
When she really wants her hugs.

She doesn't like HER food
She'd rather have a plate
of the things she really shouldn't have
(The stuff we never ate)!

She races round the house
As if her tail was burning
But slams into the walls,
Coz she's not too good at turning.

She might be really bright....
Though it's pretty hard to tell
She's loving and she's soft
(between her ears as well)


Rune and I were hit
By an arrow loosed by Cupid
And love Tosca all the same -
Even though she's stupid!

Caliki is a silly kitty,
She has improved a little bitty,
But she is still a silly kitty,
She would not like to live in the city,
Nor would we, my silly kitty!
But Caliki is my silly kitty!

A Special Treat

I pick up a spoon
open the fridge
and take out a can.
A bright look
springs into big
yellow eyes.
An alert look
with interest.
The nose twitches
and ears swivel.
A special friend
loves
what is in the can.
An intriguing smell
a special treat.
He jumps up and runs
over to me.
Standing
on his hind legs
trying to look
and taste.

When it comes to
that empty container
of cat treats,
I only had three!

These crumbs on my whiskers
and my fishy breath
are all just pure coincidence,
