I have a long and very sad story to share with you.
I was on my way to work yesterday on the freeway, and noticed a car driving off the road into a ditch. The car the keep doing back onto the road. People were slowing down and I thought I would get over to see why this car would keep driving after going off the road. At this point we were going 20mph in a 65 zone! After getting behind this car (who then almost hit a wall on a over pass) I knew something was wrong I reached for my cell phone and called 911. I got alittle closer and noticed the passangers head but no driver!!!
I got out of the car and an elderly lady yelled to me "I think he had a heart attack!" I was panicked
I told 911 that I think he may have had a heart attack or siezure or something! I was on the phone with them for a while trying to tell them exactly where we were. I had to check to see if he was breathing. He was laying there still as can be, but he was breathing. Then that stopped and so did his pulse.
Here is alittle info I received from his wife of 50years while we were waiting for the emergency crews. They are parents of 7, have 17 grandchildren and were on their way to babysit some of their grandchildren. He has bypass surgery last november and has a pace maker. He was fine until this piont while driving he told his wife that he felt dizzy, then he was out. I think his wife was more calm then me
She said he was talking up a storm on the way to where they were going and that he was kidding when he said he was dizzy!! (must be a joker
)
Finally an off duty emt stopped and we were going to start cpr but the rescue crews came to do that. They ripped him out of the car and were gone with him. I am still thinking about this a how hard it must have been for his wife to go through that. She had no injuries
She had to prey his foot off the gas and stear the car at the same time!!! I am unsure if he made it or not, but I will let you know when I find out.
The one thing that made me EXTREMELY mad was the fact that no one stopped besides me!!! They were going 20 in a 65, you know people driving by were looking in the car. They couldn't see the man laying in the seat??? Some people today make me really upset and sad

Please pray for Donald and his family!!! My dad is a emt and said I did all I could do by calling 911 and supporting his wife, but I feel guilty and sad that i didn't do more!

I think you did a wonderful job there. You did all you could for Donald and his wife - I'll be keeping him in my thoughts and hoping for his recovery.

You're right, it must have been so frightening for his wife. I wish only the best for them.

Extremely right. Blessed be. You did as much as you could. And obviously much more than the rest of them could be bothered about

Humanity, sometimes I just want to deny my association with them ...

I hope he will be OK, glad you were there to call 911 for them. I am rather amazed no one else would stop. That does not tend to be the case here- we tend to have more people than accident victims. Maybe they thought he was getting help? Hard to say - just strange that only you stopped. I always stop if I see an accident. When I was little, well before cell phones, my dad stopped when a small child had been hit by a car. He did not even bother waiting for an ambulance - it would have taken way too long and the child may not have made it - and he put his feet on the gas (100 plus mph) and we delivered her (and her mom who was in our back seat holding her daughter and just hysterical) right to the hospital door. So, even if I had never gone into a medical profession, I would stop!

How wonderful that you stopped and could be supportive for his wife. What a frightening and lonely experience it would be to see one's husband of so many years collapse like that.

Well done on your part, well done.

You did a wonderful job!!! You did more then anyone else did, you got involved when no one else was willing to. I'm sure that everyone else will say that we applaude you
It's had when everyone is so busy with there own lifes that they can't help someone else. It's hard nowadays to get someone to hold a door open for you. It makes you want to cry
I thikn that you did a wonderful job and did more then you needed to.

I am so sorry, but how awful it would have been if no one had cared enough to stop and help. Again, well done.
