This article was in the local news...just curious to what some people on here are doing to budget gas prices??? We've definatly changed to eating in more versus eating out!!!!
Article reads:
The increase in gas prices is driving an increase in motorcycle sales.

Experts say Arkansas's registered motorcycles sales have increased from 40,000 to 45,000 this past year.

Many motorcycles have five gallons tanks which equates to about 12 to 13 bucks to fill up.

The two-wheeled vehicle can average around 45 to 55 miles a gallon.

The trend is also catching on for police departments in Fort Barre, Louisiana.

The chief of police traded in his fleet of Impalas for scooters.

(John Martin) "An SUV you might fill it up for $70.00 dollars and you turn around it seems like it's ready to be filled up again."

Gas prices nationwide are averaging around $2.61 cents a gallon.

Ummm, I'm not so sure that gas prices are driving up motorcycle sales. Motorcycle sales have been going up each year for the past 5 or 6 years at least. Not saying that they might not be adding a bit now, but I see the impact as negligble.

Hubby rode MY bike
in this morning as HIS needs brake pads on the front. I told him he'd best be very careful with my "baby"
!

It does get good mileage though, about 50-55 a gallon. Hubby's bike gets a bit less as it's bigger, I'd guess his runs around 45 mpg. Still twice what the car gets and probably 2.5 times what the truck gets.

I've cut down on cutting the grass (we have about 2 acres to mow), letting the field part go longer, and just keeping the bit around the house mowed regularly.

We try to plan trips, the truck is going out this evening after he gets home as I need some building supplies, and we will also pick up his brake pads from the local motorcycle dealership at the same time.

I have a suggestion on mowing the grass - get a goat or a sheep. That would save a whole lot of gas.

At a previous job I had, my boss's boss was a good ol' country boy from Texas. He told me that one horse can keep about three acres "mowed."

I do notice that our neighborhood is letting the grass get quite a bit taller than they did last year.
