How many of you hold a day job but manage to find time to post on TCS at the same time?

Does your boss mind? Or do you do it discreetly? I know when I go back to work, I will certainly go through withdrawal, because I would get fired for chatting on TCS all day. Not to mention, it's way too busy there to focus on doing any posting here.

My job is soooooooooooooooooo boring and my boss is never in (he's a computer consultant who goes to peoples homes or offices) so I have plenty of time for all sorts of websurfing.

But I'm quitting sometime next month and we'll see about the next job. I love TCS, but I will trade it for a job that doesn't literally bore me to tears.

I have 24 days 9 minutes until my office closes. We don't have lots to do so this is how I occupy my time !!

I am a full-time nanny in the summer when the kids and I aren't at school...when they play amongst themselves (the girls are older), I do all sorts of things like read, practice, play on the internet...it's great fun!

Can I join the Shadow Club with you Rigel?

There are so many days when there is very little to do (I feel like the Maytag Repairman, waiting for the phone to ring!), so I spend my free time posting on TCS. Fortunately, my office is the only one at the end of the hall and I can keep my door closed!
Whoo! Party in my office!

There are times when I can and times when I can't -- it's very dependent on the time of year, and within a few days it will become too busy to do more than check in at lunch hour most days. For now, it's pretty quiet, and I have TCS up pretty much all day and drop in whenever I want to air my brain. But I do it discreetly.

I voted no, since I don't post at work. I'm not sure I'd get fired, unless I was asked to stop and didn't or something. The real reasons I don't post at work are:

* The internet there is really slow and it drives me nuts!
* I'm really too busy with my actual work to have the time to post.

Its a slow time right now so I have lots of time to post..My boss is in and out and since I am his "right hand gal friday" there, I tend to get away with alot...Sometimes I post discreetly and sometimes he sees my screen with all the cat sigs and goes "huh? what's that all about?"...I sometimes wish TCS had my office colours and I could not show sigs until I arrived home..
But then I like to see all the kit pics while at work!

You mean you actually work?

post from work and I'm sure everyone knows it but I get my work done. I guess that's all that matters.

We have a lot of down time at my job so they never complain if we post.
I tell the tutoring staff the same thing, it'sfine to do your own work while there but just be prepared to put it aside when a student walks in.

I did not respond to this survey since, as I often have to instruct my students, it was not mutually exclusive or exhaustive. Kidding!! However, my response does not fit in there since I sort of am my own boss. Not entirely I suppose if you consider one has to apply for privelages at a hospital and I do have a contract with the university but doctors tend to be independent business people - even in socialist Canada (Kidding again since we are nowhere near socialism) - .

I tend to post when I have time and it is somehwat of a stress reducer - most of the time. I would not mind if the people who work for me posted online at work tho most of us do not have that much time. I feel we are all professionals and should be able to manage our time.

I don't post from work - I'm not sure I'd get *fired*, but I'm pretty certain my boss would tell me to stop spending time surfing the net for fun - that's not what she's paying me for, after all.

My boss has a fit if I even so much as get on the internet at work. So, I never do. I used to think I could get away with it, because I work alone at night, and no one is there to see me, but the boss checks the history on the computer, so I just take in my portable DVD player and watch movies.

I must admit, I'm very surprised there are so many people who surf during work hours. Our entire office was warned against using internet for non-work related purposes during office hours. I guess they expect us all to "find" things to do when it's not that busy. A lot of businesses seem to be really cracking down and monitoring people's internet use and work e-mail in the office.
