Callie is due for her spay here shortly. and we want to get her done ASAP so we dont risk anything with Ares, shes older than him but we dont want any oppsies in the house. Halen has been done, and Gwen and Arthur will be as soon as they are of age.

The trouble with Callie however, is that along with her spay, we were going to have her bad legged amputated. It does not hurt her at all. Its more of a "hinderance" than anything. Well the vet finally got me a quote for Callie and its going to be $630 if done at time of spay, and $1300 if done seperately. either way its an OUCH. and we just dont have the funds. They dont do payments because their "corporate" office would be angry. I have half a mind to write a letter to corporate about that since i have been such a good customer. but that will take alot of time. I like my vet, and i trust they will do a great job for Callie. Her spay is included on my insurance plan, so the other funds are flat out for the Amputation.

So my question is. she is not in pain, and she gets around well. Is it bad to make her wait for the amputation? we will have her spayed, and just have to go in seperatly for the amputation, which of course runs the risk of her having to be put out again. But we have few opitions on this point.

I don't understand why the amputation isn't covered under insurance. That certainly isn't routine health care. Maybe you could work with the vet to find some excuse why it's "medically necessary." And then go to the insurance company with that information to get them to cover it.

Its not the usual pet insurance. its banfield. they cover certain things and you get discounted hense why it will be 630 and such. Its aggrivating. I called and wrote a letter to corp. and also put a call into my old vet to see what he could do.
