Dani Night Stalker demands a toll whenever I enter the house. No other member of the household is expected to pet Dani AS SOON AS they cross the
threshold... just me! Does it matter that both hands are full and I had to open the door with the key in my mouth? Nope, no excuses are accepted.
Many a night I've had to leap over her to get to the bathroom only to find her sitting outside the bathroom door waiting for me. I swear I half
expect her to be out there patting her little paw on the carpet.

Well, last night I walked into the house and did the unthinkable -- I completely ignored Dani. I stopped and chatted with my roommates while
Dani lay sprawled on the floor in front of me, occasionally looking up quite indignantly. Finally, I reached down but she jumped up and ran to the other side of the room. To add insult to injury, I just continued my conversation.

Dani finally returned and sprawled down to be petted but by now I'm really engrossed in the conversation and am only vaguely aware of her in my peripheral vision. Dani gets up and, meowing loudly, rubs against my legs, first the left and then the right. Finally, she'd apparently had enough of being ignored. She laid down on her side and curled herself around my left ankle. As I looked down at this ball of black fur, front and back legs scratching away at my pant leg, she turns her little head up and with those huge yellow eyes seems to ask, are you going to pay any attention to me now?

Not surprisingly, Dani got her "pets" and then happily strolled across the room to lay down and watch me with her tail wrapped around her and
her front paws curled under her looking much like a little Chia pet.

I certainly got a cat with personality and all the subtlety of a sledgehammer. Jeez

Seems you've gotten a spoiled rotten kitty there, JoJo.

Ha! I know what you mean!!! My cat Merlin is soooo spoiled. He usually gets the dry cat food, but for a treat, every once in awhile I give him a can of fancy feast...not too often, though, because I heard it will rot their teeth if given on a regular basis, but he LOVES it...and he knows what cupboard I keep it in, so whenever I open that particular cupboard, to put groceries away, or whatever, there he is...out of the blue, rubbing all over my legs, and meowing. I try to ignore him, but then he gets real vocal, and so lots of times I go ahead and give him some.
Spoiled!

That is funny Debby. I keep the cat food in the same cabinet as my Saran Wrap, Aluminum Foil, etc.....every time I open that door both cats come a running no matter where they are or what they are doing.
It drives me nuts sometimes, I can't even go get a trash bag without a cat clawing up my leg.

 I know what you mean!!! And Merlin even jumps clear up in the air when I finally get a can of cat food out, trying to knock it out of my hands...he is not very patient....

Ditto on the cat food. If you want to see magic, try opening a can of food... Dani's been sound asleep but the moment the cabinet door opens, she's underfoot, meowing her little head off.

I guess I do spoil her. But for a cat who runs and hides from everyone else, when she comes to lay down near me, I'm putty in her paws. Yesterday, she laid her head in my lap when she took her nap. I was on Cloud 9. She's got me wrapped around her little kitty paw and I'm happy.

Last night I was eating a roast beef sandwich from Hardees, and Merlin jumped into my lap, and he wouldn't leave me alone. I kept raising the sandwich up higher, so he couldn't get his little paws on it...and scolding him a bit, but to no avail. I finally ended up giving him part of my sandwich....talk about spoiled. :tounge2:
