One of my kitties, Meeko, has been diagnosed with a problem requiring a special veterinary diet which unfortunately is really expensive - I'm looking to possibly cut costs on the other kitties' diets to accomodate this, but without sacrificing quality - currently they are eating California Natural, but I have heard Nutro Natural Choice mentioned on this board before as a good food - is this true? Is it comparable in quality to California Natural? If so, is there a reason that Nutro Natural choice is so much less expensive? Any advice about this food would be totally appreciated, thanks!

I think it's more of a case that Nutro doesn't over charge! The price runs along with the other "premium" brands that have ground yellow corn and chicken by products, but the ingredients are better. You're not paying for all the expensive advertising, either, since Nutro doesn't advertise.
My cats eat Natural Choice dry food, and I've just started to add Nutro Max cans, although the cat that needs it (for weight loss) won't eat it! She's a picky thing, won't even eat people food. Hopefully she'll like one of the other flavors, we tried Chicken Cacciatore last night!

The reason is Nutro has a very small profit margin on its products ( I was told something like 5% )..It is also sold in bigger outlets thus more is sold.. .. The ingrediants match right up with Cal natural ( which I also like) ... I suggested Max cat though on another thread for you..
