I called him... he says it can be done, but it will have to be done during hospitalization with another bag of IV fluids on her. He wants me to keep giving the paste every 2 hours, and keep giving her the pills, and if it keeps on get her to be hospitalized. He didn't mention me how long to wait before that... but I am tempted to just grab her now and walk over to the vet.

I would do what your heart tells you...if you feel she is that weak, I'd head over. I tend to be conservative, but I know my guys well, and I am rarely wrong when I feel it's something a vet needs to see. So..trust what you feel about how she is and whether or not you should wait. I wouldn't if she were mine from what you describe w/the vomitting, her not standing when you gently dropped her, etc. I am so sorry Saladina is ill, we all know how much your cats mean to you.

wishing her to be on the road to recovery,

I just came from the vet... she has been hospitalized again... she is there, and they are attempting to hydrate and feed her through IV. She also got a Vitamin B shot. The doctor wants to try and give her by tomorrow Valium, which he says would give her a voracious appetite... Its a double edged sword, for it goes straight through the liver... the problem is that she is so deep in the illness that its worth a shot.

What I am being told by the vet... is that chances are slim.... And I am in a state of heavy depression right now... She isn't even three years old.

Rigel... desde el fondo de mi alma, gracias.
Just so this is clear to anyone reading this in the future....

That means she is very dehydrated. It should go back into place immediately, not take several seconds. This alone would have warranted an immediate trip to the emergency vet to get sub-q fluids.

Did you also tell the vet you dropped your cat on her head and that she didn't get up for a very long time. Even though it was accidental, it is important for the vet to know this,

Yes, that is one of the things the vet said in the last visit, and she is getting those very fluids as we speak... But thanks for clearing it up for the readers.

Yeah.... I did tell him of how I dropped her and instead of falling on her feet as she always does she fell head first, and didn't get up until I helped her on her feet. It was right after that I called him on the phone.

She crossed the bridge this morning.
She didn't even respond to the treatment. I made the arrangement I had decided to do long ago if one of my cats died... I would have her buried in the backyard... which is pretty much where she was the first time I saw her... its been done....

I don't know... all the tears I had yesterday over the prospect of Saladina dying.... and now that she's gone, I feel more serene... more at peace with myself. I just have been thinking of when she came up to my backyard for the first time over two and a half years ago... I don't even know what to say... nor how to describe what I feel right now...

I am so sorry to hear that. I know how you feel about the tears though, when I found out that Snowy hadn't responded to treatment and it was up to me to decide when was best for her to go, I spent the two weeks between being told and her going in tears, yet as soon as I came home I stopped crying, and I felt awful, but I now think i did my grieving before, and came to terms with the fact that she wouldnt be with me much longer. I am glad that she got to spend the last two and a half years of her life with someone who loved her so much though.

Victor,

You have my deepest sympathies. Thankfully, Saladina had these past 2+ years filled with love she might never have known otherwsie.

I am so terribly sorry Victor
I know how hard this is for you, but in time the tears will subside and you will smile everytime you think about her and how happy she was. We're here for you to help you through this.
Saladina had a wonderful life with you and you did everything you could for her.

RIP sweet girl

Oh Victor sweetheart, I'm so sorry to hear of Saladina's passing.
I just found this thread and was hoping for good news as I kept reading. She's running around at the Bridge now, chasing the butterflies and remembering all the love and happiness she had with you.

Oh, Victor, I am so sorry that your dear Saladina has passed. Poor sweet girl! And poor Victor and family, I am very sorry for your loss.

But to think of a lost and lonely girl, who wandered into your backyard 2-1/2 years ago. She has been loved and cared for since that day. And now she is laid to rest in your backyard, forever a beloved part of a great family.

Rest in peace, Sala.

Thanks everyone.... thanks indeed... from the very bottom of my heart...
I don't have a lot in the way of words right now. I have just been in the idea that at the very least she isn't suffering anymore, and remembering all her charm and love. My friend Loren was basically saying that it was best that she went this quickly, because she is at peace now...
