I would call a vet immediately and talk to them about this. Also, very carefully wrap the dead kitten up in a newspaper and either bury it (if possible) or place it in the trash outside burying it as deep as possible.

I am sorry for your loss and hope you will seek professional help for the momcat.

I agree, she needs to be seen by a vet ASAP...do you have any 24 hour animal hospitals/clinics in your area?

Not to be an alarmist, but if her labor is delayed due to a kitten being 'stuck', she will die without intervention. Either way, 8 hours with no more kittens (if she appears to be pregnant still) and with her not getting up at all, is an EMERGENCY. It is possible that there are no more kittens...but only a vet can tell for sure.

I am so sorrry to hear she lost one of the kittens, I hope you can get her seen soon!

Yes, it can and sometimes does, but if she is still having noticable contractions and is obviously pushing without producing a kitten, then it should be considered an emergency. Is there any discharge at all?

Oh, I was under the impression from your first post that momma cat was not moving (as in lethargic). I agree that you should watch closely and see if she is having contractions and/or trying to push without success.

Also, are you feeling any movement (of possible other kittens)?

Yep that was my impression as well, your mama-cat sounded like she was in a lot of trouble.

My sisters cat had a kitten then twelves hours later she had the second one.Her mama cat was eatting purring and acted fine between the two babies. But after the second baby she still took her to the vet to make sure ther where no more babies.
But if your cat shows the first sign of stress (painting, pushing an no kittens) get her to the vet ASAP.

Please keep us posted and I'm sorry about the first kitten
