My darling little kitty, Pandora, has found out that beating up the toilet paper rolls to bits is the best entertainment a kitten can have. My husband's getting a little irritated over it. I think it's funny. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? One of the bathroom doors I can close when not in use so she can't get at it, but the main floor bathroom has her litterbox, so can't close that one off. I'm sure many others have had this problem before, so I'd love to hear some of your solutions. Thanks!!!

It is only irritating if it is your last roll of TP and you have to go number 2!

We keep our bathroom doors closed as well to keep animals out. you can buy decorative toilet paper stands. They are stained wood and some of them have pictures etched on the side
there are a few chrome ones on this page!

Dushka is my toilet paper shredder - she has always done it since a kitten, and I always forget to check until I need it and reach out for a handful of slivers! She will shred any paper or cardboard - I have now learnt to leave nothing on my desk unless it is in a plastic folder as she tears cardboard folders across in her teeth. She recently tore a notebook to shreds that I had left byt he computer, one that I was using for work! I don't know how to stop it, there are two cat litter boxes inthe upstairs bathroom so I can't keep the door shut. Sometimes I give her an old newspaper to distract her and she loves that - but it leaves an awful mess to clear up! When I move I will get a covered toilet paper holder and I hope that will solve that problem.

My fuzz-nut Buster used to do this as a kitten. He would keep pawing at the roll until the entire roll was shredded and on the floor. Solution: don't put the paper on the actual roll...put it up higher on vanity or something until your kitten grows out of this (cute & funny) behavior

Vash goes for the unopened TP, he drags around the 8-packs of mega rolls. LOL
The packages are bigger than he is.

Fortunately none of mine have ever done this.

Hmmmmm.....sounds to me like you folks are basically telling me I just have to live with it
I do think it's a riot - I wish hubby was as understanding. He just hates it when we have to "accomodate" for the animals. Personally, I don't mind. I guess we'll just take the TP off the holder and put it up higher for now. Thanks a bunch!!! It's nice to see I'm not the only person that has a kitty with a TP fettish!

Well, the other day, the roll of toilet paper began on the holder in the bathroom...and ended under my bed. Have to say, I was rather amused. Hubby wasn't home, and I'm the one who picks it up, anyway, but he still got a good laugh out of it when I told him.

My cat George does this. I have not been able to leave the TP roll on the dispenser for 7 yrs . I think after I couple of years, he will forget but the minute I try it the whole roll is undone. I just leave it on the back of the toliet or on the bathroom counter. I put it back on when I know company is coming

My 2 have thier litterbox in our spare bathroom but it's so small that with the litterbox there really isn't room for a person to use the bathroom anymore. For a bit I had the TP in there but they used to paw it down and it would all be inside thier litterbox. Now Abby, one of my dogs (parents dog-whatever) will 'sculpt' toilet paper rolls. They went to Puerto Rico earlier this year and when I came to check on the animals one day Abby had some shreds hanging off, some nibble marks in almost a pattern, etc. She had taken the roll from the package. Fortunatley she left the rest alone! I saved the 'artwork' for my Mother's welcome home present!

I have to do this very same thing.
Sierra also loves shredding the roll of paper towels to bits and pieces!
One sort of helpful tip you may want to try, though, is hanging your roll "backwards" on the dispenser with the torn sheet facing up instead of down. It's a wee bit more challenging to get it to roll off to shred all over the house. Just a thought!

My Spook used to use the tp has a scratch post, but only when he was left alone for the day! He was mad and he would tear it up, and then he got mad enough he found the paper towel on the kitchen counter! I believe it stopped when I brought home another kitty, a buddy to play with! I did put him outside whenever I would leave, and he even got clever with that. He wouldn't come to me when I would call him, so in a panic I would drive up and down the driveway calling for him, using a spot light looking through the woods. finally he would come strolling up, taking his time! The other cat cured all of that! Those crazy human-like cats! Just gotta love em!

Alfie is my paper fiend, if he can chew/scratch/ bite/ play with it, he will! I've come into the bathroom to find an entire roll of paper in a heap on the floor before, and him looking all innocent with a piece of it hanging from his mouth! He also chews any files or folders I leave in his reach, actually he chews just about anything I leave in his reach!

I have to admit, I find it funny too

I LOVE the pic!

Abby used to do this when we first got her. We put the paper on the holder the opposite way so it didn't unroll as easy when she pawed at it. She hasn't done it since!
