I don't know whether to worry about my baby cat. He is about 4 months old. He seems ever so slightly more lethargic...seems to have gained alot of weight rapidly, and has a plug of feces. But he was never all that hyper. He does like to eat (I'm careful about what I feed him though)...and he has never really been much of a groomer. He doesn't seem like he's in any sort of pain or discomfort. He doesn't seem dehydrated at all. I think he's constipated. Is there any sort of change I need to put on his diet? I make sure he has fresh water everyday. I also leave out a good dry food. I can't recall the name. It's not carried in regular grocery stores. It's a purple foil bag with celestial signs on it. Before that I game him Fromm dry kitten food. I give him half a can in the morning and half a can at night of...Friskies wet food....is that a problem? Is there a high quality, but budget effective wet food that would be better for him? I'm even open to the idea of making their food (he has a big brother by two months)

Has he seen a vet to rule out any health issues?? I'd be contacting a vet to ensure that he is healthy and then look at the food.

I was about to call our vet two hours ago, but my fiancee called (he's at home with Bodhi), and said he just went to the bathroom in a normal manner...perked up, and started running around like normal. So right now he is on watch. I hesitated because he really didn't seem to be uncomfortable or any less happy. I'm home with him tomorrow...so if he shows signs of being plugged up again...he gets professional help. : ) But a question in general...Bodhi is a Snowshoe Siamese, and his brother is two months older....his name is Tengzeng...he's a 3/4 Manx Burmese. Tengzeng is about six months old and has been very hyper and very playful....I read up on his breeds and that sounds normal (he's a joy and a terror all at once)....Bodhi is much quieter though. I couldn't find much about the normal demeanor of Siamese. Will these guys be good playmates? Or will Tengzeng be too hyperactive for Bodhi to really connect with? It seems that Bodhi sometimes gets exasperated with his big brother, and we were worried that maybe his constipation could have been caused by stress.

Ah...that is a question for our moderator Gaye. She ia a breeder of old style siamese so she could give you a pretty good idea regarding the siamese personality.

Unfortunately I had to have my baby put to sleep. It's very painful for me to talk about. But I explain more in the Health and Nutrition forum. The kittens were actually cagemates at the petstore. I brought them home only one day apart, so they already knew eachother. I think I'll have Tengzeng neutered next month assuming he isn't sick too.
Thankyou,
Nicole

Oh Nicole...how awful...one of our fosters recently had a kitten with FIP that had to be PTS. I'm truly sorry..but do hope your other kitten is ok. Please keep us posted.

BTW....did you tell the rescue group about the kitten having FIP so that they can check to see if any other kittens need to be seen by a vet?

Apparently Bodhi was the only one of the litter with FIP...so far...but Tenzeng will probably being going for a checkup later this month, or the beginning of next month. I pray to God he is okay.
