My Bride and I adopted a new resident yesterday. We had been discussing getting a kitten for a couple of years now and had left our name with a local pet store to call us when they got some kittens in. They called over the weekend, and we decided to make the plunge and get a housemate. Due to my schedule Monday was out, so Tuesday was the day. I was talking to a friend at work about cats in general and mentioned that we were going to purchase one, she suggested that we look into adoption. We went out to dinner Tuesday evening and decided to go to the shelter on Wednesday afternoon to find a kitten. After dinner we stopped by the local PetSmart to get a handle on everything we would need to help establish a proper envirement for our new cat. It was just a recon mission. We bought a book and as we were checking out we noticed that they had an adoption area. We walked over and took a look and it was all over. We found DJ, a one year old nuetered male, a cream colored colorpointed red tabby. His disposition matches ours to a T, kinda laid back and easy going. He's a sweetheart and a very welcome addition to our life.
We finalized adoption yesterday afternoon and he came home with us last night. After a very tenative hour of exploring, he deemed eeverything was cool, he decided that he could live in harmony with us. He's litter box trained and has adapted very well to our(excuse me HIS) 2 story condo. He's such a sweetheart.
Question: Should we have a litter box upstairs and down, right now we just have one down?
We woke this morning at 2:30 to DJ standing on my Lady's chest grooming her hair and face, it was a nice moment, When we got up for work he was standing guard on the end of the bed. This is going to be great!!
