Cosette is the first cat who ever owned me that will only eat when she has an audience!

Cosette will meow like crazy until we follow her to her food bowl and she purrs up a storm while she eats if we're watching her/petting her. It cracks me up because Eponine could care less if we watch her eat!

I've posted here about this before, but I thought it'd be fun to do a poll and see how many other kitties out there have this need to have an audience while they dine.

Awwwwww Amy how cute is that!!!

I usually sit and watch Rosie and Sophie eat, and Rosie doesn't seem too bothered, but Sophie keeps looking up from her bowl at me while eating and i'll say " Is that lovely?!", then she gives that slow eyed blink then carries on eating

Sophie and Cosy parallel each other in so many ways

Cosette has started to do THE cutest thing. Whenever she comes in the room and meows, I know that she wants me to come watch her eat. So the second I get up to follow her, she does this little dance- she lets out this happy mew, runs around in two circles really fast and then makes a beeline for her food!
I swear nothing makes her happier!

Mine couldn't care less! I sometimes think that I have rats or something, as I don't see them eat, but all the food is gone by morning! Or, I get one of them jumping on the bed licking his lips and smelling of chicken/catfood/whatever

Cupid doesn't really want me to watch him eat, but he won't eat if I'm not in the same room. He follows me everywhere, so if I leave the room he'll stop eating and follow me.

At 15.2 pounds, Red Cat will eat under almost ANY conditions! But when I first got him (six years ago at about age three), he would often come and get me and insist that I stand there and watch him eat. My late husband and I always used to joke that Red Cat wanted me to come and say grace first before he could eat. Red Cat still does this occasionally; the other two never do.

When Jello joined us, they watched him while they ate and either wouldn't eat or gobbled up their food. If I was there, they seem more at ease. Now that they're used to the dog, they don't care if there's an audience or not.

My guys could careless most of the time. If Rotten is in a particularly lovely mood and wants me to watch she comes over and head butts my leg, if I ignore her she then bites whatever flesh she can find! It's so funny, but it hurts so she usually gets the attention she demands!

For those of you whose cats DO like you to watch them eat, do you feel as if that is a good bonding time between you and your cat?
Cosette always seems her happiest when I'm petting her as she eats, so I use is it as bonding time.

Chelsea, my antisocial cat, has to be watched when eating. She will only eat after I pet her head and sit next to her. If I leave for a minute only (to answer the phone or something) she will stop eating until I return.
If I leave the house even for the whole day she won't touch her food.
I thought it was weird, cause otherwise she doesn't really care to be petted, she seems to be an older cat too and must have lived outside for a while.

None of the cats who have ever owned my family needed to be watched, but my kid brother's cat, Loki, has always liked to eat dinner at the same time that the family is sitting down (he's fed all-he-can-eat dry food).

Mi Chiquita is a semi-adopted stray. Most of the time she feeds on mourning doves :p but on the occassions when I manage to sneak her out a treat from the house, she NEVER jumps to eat until after she has "thanked" me and getting a good hard skritching of her head and ears... she has very good manners!

She didin't used to need an audience, but currently she is recovering from surgery (an emergency c-section / spaying) and seems to eat a lot better when I am with her...

Gandalf could care less that boy can put away the cat food. Samwise on the other had doesn't like it when I watch him eat. Even if I walk in on him, he'll stop and walk away then after I've left the kitchen he returns to the food.
