I don't understand why my cat Moss has started drinking water from my pint glass and not his own water bowl. I find it funny but why would he do this? We leave one out for him all the time now, it's no bother at all but I just can't understand why!!

Char would rather drink from my water cup than his bowl or fountain. He will drink from his fountain but not a bowl. And if I have a cup around, forget it! He claims it. I do leave some cups around in the bedroom so they can drink water when they are in there and they have the fountain in the living room. Maybe it is because they want to share with us?

I wondered if it was to do with him not wanting to drink from a pastic bowl? He doesn't drink it from any other cup just a pint glass. We're going to get him is own and have 'Moss Pint' inscribed on it lol

At the kitty's beck and call
Lily just likes variety. She has a two pint glasses; a ceramic bowl downstairs and, at nightime, she has a jug in the bath too. She likes to be able to choose where she drinks her water. I think it helps to make life interesting for an indoor cat.

Oliver's got a water cooler looking bowl which he uses, but he also frequents a plastic bowl I leave in the bathtub with water in it (he likes to play with my PennState rubber duckies in there, haha) or the toilet... I think they just like variety - he'll also always check out and usually sample any glass I set down...

One of my cats used to love drinking out of glasses, so I gave her a wine glass, and she would only drink out of it if it was in the front room. Did get some strange looks from visitors, some thought I was letting my cat drink alcohol!!

Garfield was drinking out of my water glass, and I set up his own coffee mug in the bathroom. He ended up with a sore nose, from drinking down in the cup. He does have feline herpes, so maybe he is more prone to sores, but I have since switched him to one of my china bowls of water in the same spot. He seems to stay out of the potty and our drinks, now, and his nose has healed up.

Just be watchful of your kitty's nose when they are drinking often from a cup! (Gar also had distemper as a kit, so maybe he drinks more water than most cats?)
