My 10 week old kitten had her first shot today; first she had her blood drawn to test for leukemia and AIDS, which she was negative for.
Then she got one shot, a distemper and leukemia in one shot. I drove her home and took off again, and I've been out for a few hours. Now that I came home I notice she's not herself. She is not active like she normally is; just walking a little bit but lying down and moving away if we try to cuddle her. She goes to sunny spots which she normally is too active to worry about, and I can see her shaking every so slightly. Her ears are shaking a little bit, and her tail tip twitching. She won't play much, just taking an interest then settling down again. I've told the kids that she's not feeling well, so we're all just leaving her alone; talking to her softly which she likes, but not touching her.
Does this sound normal to you after a shot? When will she feel better again?
She ate after she came home, and just went (urinated) in the litter box a few minutes ago.
I'm like a new mother these days, worrying about all kinds of little things.

It is normal for some cats and it isn't supposed to last long. If she gets worse, I would call your vet. It sometimes depends on if they used a live vaccine or a dead one.

We don't need the distemper shot here in the UK, but we do give leukemia and it does make them feel a bit under the weather normally for the first 24 hours.

I don't give mine it because their indoor cats, but Rosie only had it once when she was a kitten and all she wanted to do was lie quietly in her bed, hardly ate, and later on when she came onto my lap to sleep she started shaking.

I rang the emergency number for my vet to explain and they told me that it was normal and to keep her warm and quiet but if she wasn't any better after 24 hours to take her back, but by the next morning she was fine
