He wouldn't get close to that now. He isn't popular anymore, it was a mob thing.

Sounds like sour grapes to me.
Mob thing my foot. Ya gotta be pretty bad to be Gray Davis. How humiliating.
Doesn't change the fact that, "less than 30%" is a darn far cry from 48.6% now isn't it.

You got that right. NAMBLA, why aren't they against the law just like kiddie porn?

Yeah it was mob thing... did you see the mob that was running for Gov? Heck Gary Coleman got over 10,000 Votes! Larry Flynt got over 17,000. Yeah, it was a mob thing... (Source for list of Candidates and voting results here)

btw, on doing some reasearch (CBS, CNN and elsewhere), Los Angeles did vote for Arnold, not sure about SD, but the bay area was the major metro that voted against him. Even the SF Gate has article located here that was quoted in saying "The Bay Area appeared to be the only region of the state that did not vote to oust Davis. While the recall appeared to be winning by about 10 percentage points statewide, San Franciscans voted against it 4 to 1."

Good For Arnold on doing this. Its about time that the states (okay most of them, there are some that are still WAY too lax) are putting their foot down on this issue. It's too bad that this wasn't done in the past and many years ago...

I knew total he didn't have an majority, so that is what I was remembering. It really doesn't look like in a one on one election he would win here.

Look, I live here, he isn't popular now.

By the way, do you own cats? Do you ever post about cats too? Or do you just come and attack on IMO?

I knew he didn't get a full on majority. Look Grey Davis was so hated due to this energy thing, it was a mob thing to get rid of him. And it turns out we now all know that Enron was messing with us. I mean Davis handled it really poorly I grant that, but I am tellin ya Arnie swept in on a unique time. His isn't very popular now.

I know that Florida recently passed a law to really crack down on pedophiles (which they direly needed), but I haven't heard anything toughening the laws here in Colorado. Is it just the states with really high profile cases that are getting the public pressure to do something? I imagine Idaho will be next to pass something like this if that's the case... For those who don't live in FL or CA, have laws been passed recently to close some of these loopholes. or are there any on the docket?
Yes I would be curious what other states are up to with this.

Also I know we got OT but here is an article about Arnie's decline in this state
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cg...NG56DBUNC1.DTL

I read a more recent poll that put him at only 39 percent wanting re-election.

From what that article said, this bill is huge. It's not JUST about putting pedophiles away for longer jail sentencing. Both parties have been known to create huge bills and stick all SORTS of things in there to further their own gains (Omnibus spending bill anyone?).

Where is the money for these satillite monitors of pedophiles coming from?

Sure, I think spending money on protecting children from pedophiles is a good idea. But I want it to WORK, not just be spent. Furthermore, if we don't *actually* have the money, what good will it do?

I didn't vote for Arnie.

Yes, I do. I have one cat and I have 2 dogs.
48.6 % of the vote IS a majority, that is why he won, Bustamonte came in second way way way behind. Yep, Arnold definitely got a majority.
He is trying hard and doing it for free.
People are bummed because he slashing programs to try to balance the budget. At least that is what I have HEARD. He is poplular with all the people I talk to.

Can you ask you a favor then, will you post about cats just once? Do you ever?

People are bummed with Arnie fora lot of reasons, he sort of self destructed calling the nurses and teachers "Special interests" and the calling everyone who opposes him "girlymen" was cute at first but got old.

Polls are notoriously unreliable, they change daily. Remember the exit polls that said John Kerry would be our next Pres. I never believe polls.

I believe this thread is about pedophiles and the legislation that is proposed by one politician. This does not make this the place to debate who loves Arnie, or by how much he won the vote. The comments around this latter issue are bordering on the personal, and I would appreciate it if we could conduct personal disagreements via PMs and leave the thread to those who wish to discuss the issue posted. Please and thanks.

Look it's not a political thing, it'sa human nature thing. He came in on a rush of anger, and now he is waning. He could go up, especially cause of the attacks his organization will do on any opponent, but he likely won't win in 06.

I would think it's someting Democrats and Republicans should agree on!

Perhaps they have not 'paid the price' mentally, emotionally, and physically like the children this would protect! I have a good friend who was a victim of sexual abuse as a child and let me tell you, she has suffered!

I am so sorry for your friend. Yes I think this is an issue that should have bipartisan support and I really pray that is will.
I, also, have a good friend of mine that was horribly molested as a child by a priest. It has had a devastating impact on his life.

Arnold has introduced sweeping new legislation to come down HARD on
pedophiles. Would require LIFE-TIME electronic tracking for convicted
pedophiles. Stiffer jail sentences, etc etc.

BUT, the Democrats are against it because ---- it will cost to much.
Please tell me how much a little childs life is worth?

Just wondering how you all feel about this new plan of Arnold's.
It is a GREAT plan - the best he will ever come up with!
