I'm sorry mods if this is in the wrong forum, but since it is not about Cats I thought it might be ok to put it here~

Here is a petition to stop projected drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge www.donotdrill.ca

You don't have to be Canadian to sign. Under region you can select a US state or Other Country.

It breaks my heart to know that somewhere such as a refuge is going to be destroyed
I thought a lot of you here would feel the same~

Thanks!

You would do more good to write a hard copy letter about this. Online petitions are virtually useless.

Find your Senator's name and write a letter! This refuge is very important for so many people, do not let greed swallow it up!

It would be useful to know why online petitions are virtually useless. Is because the signatures can be faked?
If we have a cause that we would like to advocate for...is a snail mail letter is the best tool? How about an e-mail message as an option?

That's exactly why. There's no way to verify signatures or addresses That and the fact that legislators in any representative government honestly don't care what people from other states/provinces or nations think. They don't represent those people, and those people cannot vote for them in the next election.

I have sent emails to my representatives and gotten hard copy replies from their offices.
So emails do work. Just be sure to include your full name and address in your correspondence.

Also be aware that some of these online petitions are farces. Not that the cause isn't real, but the intent behind some of them is to harvest your email address, or your physical address and sell the list worldwide. Sad but very true-
Write an email, find the physical address of your senator and print your email out, sign it and send it- that is the clout they need!
