We got another one! I think this one is a girl. She is alot more frightened than her brother was. She was hissing and flailing around this morning and now at lunch she is still visibly upset and hissed once. I feel sorry for the poor lil one, she doesnt know that she will be safe now.
Hopefully she will calm down by tonight.

Ah, another baby out of harm's way!
That is such a tragic story about the mom, but you have truly become these kittens' guardian angel.
I was thrilled that your mom has taken in Little Danny - tell that now's a good time to be thinking up her TCS name
The kittens are gorgeous - and they are so young, they will tame right up with continued patience
They remind me somehow of the JonnyCat kitten. {{{Prayers and vibes}}} for continued success in rescuing those precious little ones & for quick assistance in finding their forever homes! You're the best !!!

When I've worked with feral kittens, I try to imitate the mama-kitty's trilling "mmmrrrreow, mmmrrrreow-mmmrrreow" and it seems to calm them down considerably. Just be aware of any audience reaction that you might get.

From humans, I mean...

Living in the land of not enough time
Try using the little girls poop to lure the other kittens into the trap or some of her bedding. Her scent will draw them in. Also, put some cardboard down in the front of the trap. The wire sometimes scares the intended trapee.

I've had good luck with canned food that's been warmed for 30-45 seconds. It can't be HOT, just warm enough to make it good and smelly. I've also reheated McDonalds hamburgers and KFC chicken.

Wonderful!!! Hubby asked me to check in on your thread.
My feral kittens acted this way, too. They will be O.K. - I know it is heartbreaking to watch, though.

As you feed them, keep moving a little closer to the food. At their tiny age, they should be fed several times a day. As they eat, they will learn to associate you with the yummy food. You may be able to catch a few without the trap.

Best of luck, they are lucky to have you caring for them!

Just thought I would update everyone who is interested. We have not been able to trap any of the others since the girl. They are swarming around the traps though because they can smell the food so I have a feeling it will be soon.

We were finally able to get closer to the little girl we got. She calmed down after a bit of glaring and hissing. We warmed up some canned food and slowly got close enough for her to smell it. After she ate she glared at us again for a while and then desided to take a chance and come to the end of the crate where we were at. We did the same thing for the next few meals only we opened the crate while she ate. After she ate she pranced right out of the crate. She sat there looking at me and licking her paws for a minute and then lay down in the floor and went to sleep. She has yet to cuddle like her brother did but she does allow us to pet her and even rubs our hand when we hold it out to her. I have a feeling she will be alright. She is starting to fatten up between the canned food and kitten formula. Also against all of my gripes and me saying we arnt keeping her no matter what DF gave her a name. "Princess Tinka" Its cute and it fits but we still arn't keeping her.... just until she finds a good home.

Hey guys, im sorry its been so long without an update. I've just been trying to get in touch with some family friends that were involved in the evacuations. Everyone is fine Praise God! As far as the kittens... lil miss thang was taken by my mom too. She said that her lil man needed a playmate and what better choice than his own sister. We havent been able to trap any of the others but I still see them every day. They are growing!!!!!
