Hi I'm new to this forum and I placed this here b/c this seems to be the busiest room. I have a terrible ordeal in my home, as we just found that my husband is allergic to our 3 yr old Ragdoll. We rescued her over a year ago from a shelter and she is the love of our life. Unfortunately my husband started to get severe respiratory infections and we found out a few months ago that he is allergic to her So since then we have kept her in an extra room in our home, but it breaks my heart to keep her there. I have placed ads in the paper for her, but the people who call don't seem like the right people for her, or maybe I just know in my heart I dont want her to go. But I have no choice. I have been joining forums all day today, in search of a perfect forever home for my baby girl. A great home for her would have to be someone with NO pet allergies, possibly an older couple with no kids (as she is very shy b/c she was a stray before we got her, and someone who can give her lots of attention. She is very social once she gets to know you and she loves belly rubs. She is UTD on all of her shot, but will need to go for her annuals in November. She is spayed. I would also like to meet with any potential adopters for a brief interview to be sure that you are the best owner for her. I am also asking for a small adoption fee of $100. If you or someone you know is interested, please let me know. Thank you very much.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I live in Canada but hopefully some folks nearer you will be around shortly with some good advice.

If you'd like to talk about getting her into our cat sanctuary, I'd be happy to talk more with you. I have a soft spot for Ragdolls, persians, himalayans and the like. Of course, we couldn't pay an adotpion fee for her and may even require a small donation from you to accept her into our organization. We try every last avenue to find the perfect home and if all else fails they can retire here at our sanctuary!

I am a bit confused. How do you know this cat is a Ragdoll, considering she was a stray? Unless she has papers, this cat shouldn't really be advertised as a Ragdoll. Ragdolls aren't common, and it would be extremely hard to find a "stray Ragdoll".

To her credit, she didn't say she was a stray. She said she was adopted from a shelter.
Conceivably, someone could have given up their ragdoll that they had bought from a breeder. However, it wasn't likely a great breeder as the breeder obviously didn't take the cat back before it went to a shelter.

This is the direct quote from the original post

"A great home for her would have to be someone with NO pet allergies, possibly an older couple with no kids (as she is very shy b/c she was a stray before we got her, and someone who can give her lots of attention".

So, the original poster did say the cat used to be a stray. While it great that the original poster adopted a cat from a shelter that used to be a stray, I don' think it's fair to potential new owners to describe this cat as a Ragdoll. I see that shelter advertise their cats sometime as being a ceirtain breed, while the cats most ceirtanly aren't that breed, and many times they don't even look like the supposed breed. I guess it gives a cat a better chance for an adoption, but it's misleading.

ohh..duh..I just saw the part where she said she "rescued" her..! Sorry.

Wouldn't a ragdoll's features be very easy to discern though? I have never even held one..But aren't they the only cats in the world that limp out when picked up??

I don't think you could call a cat that limps when picked up a Ragdoll. Ragdoll cat is supposed to come from two registered Ragdoll cat parents. Those cats are not very common and expensive, so they are un-likely to be stray. Also, Ragdolls don't have any distinct facial features, like a Persian, for instance, that you could even say that a cat is a Ragdoll mix by just looking at the cat.

Yeah, strange..Any ragdoll breeders have a clue as to why this cat might have this feature?

Also to the OP: How did you come to think she is a ragdoll?
